The Shiites are the majority by far; the Sunnis (Saddams clan) are the minority...and the Kurds are the lowest members on the pole.

As blood thirsty as you think we Americans are...just remember that the Arabs are many times more thirsty......add to the mix that they are predominately Muslims...a backwards looking culture that strongly believes in an "Eye for an Eye" ...and have the memory of elephants...there isn't going to be any seperate countries with a shared military...shiiit....Iran would have the Shiites (the Iranians are predominately Shiites - hence their medling) grab control of the military and pay back the Sunnis for the all the sins of Saddam.

This whole region is so full of turmoil, seething misplaced rage, lies, deceit, rule by the sword and petty grievances that have grown into full blown vendettas that I can see why Reagan pulled up anchors and sailed away from Lebanon at full steam after our barracks were truck bombed.
