I have an account, but have only used it a few times & never really completely understood how it works.
So my PayPal account is tied to my play money bank account so I only transfer money in when I find something I want to by from a seller that only takes PayPal.
That said, in PayPal, I request funds from my bank account & the transaction takes 3-5 days to complete.
So meanwhile I win the e-bay bid. Is it ok to go ahead & pay now using PayPal even thought the transfer is still pending?
or must i wait until the transfer is complete?

And another thing, why does it take so long for this transfer from checking to PayPal?

It takes 3-5 business days to transfer funds between paypal and the banks. If you are going to be bidding on items on ebay, just pay for the item in paypal and it will draft from your account if you dont have enough funds in paypal. It will let the seller know the funds are pending to them and not tie up your money sitting in a paypal account just in case you see something local you want. If you did a transfer and paid, then you just drafted your account twice as those are two seperate transactions.

I know PayPal is almost necessary to do business on Ebay but I avoid using them every chance I get. They are VERY anti-gun and use part of the fees they charge you to support the anti-gun lobby.

That's almost an oxymoron though............Ebay owns Paypal.

I'd use a credit card if possible through paypal. It's instant....and you are covered two ways. Paypal covers the transaction to a certain amount and so does your credit card company.

If you have Debit or Credit Card as a Backup form of Payment on Paypal then you don't have to worry about a Paypal balance.
If you pay for something and your Paypal balance is $0 then it just automaticly uses the backup form of Payment.

I operate my PayPal account with a zero balance but it is tied to my checking account. In other words, I do not transfer funds to the PayPal account in order to pay for an item. When I buy something on E-Bay and pay using PayPal, it is automatically paid to the seller and PayPal makes a debit from my checking for the amount.

If the account you are tying to PayPal has a zero balance when you make a PayPal payment, I don't know what happens. Either the transaction wouldn't go through or there would be some type of overdraft fee from your bank, PayPal, or maybe both.

I actually use my debit card for my play bank account. If the bank account is dry, I use another card.

Exactly, my PayPal is set with my debit card and has a zero balance. I just made 3 purchases today, it comes straight out of my checking, i have never had a problem with ebay or pay pal.

Glad I asked because like I said, I never keep a balance in PayPal but didn’t know that it would automatically debit my checking. I’ve always just transferred the money in & waited the 3-5 days before checking out. This is good to know………Thanks guys.

I have a PayPal CC. And have it tied into my bank so I can pay any balance on my card..
