Can anyone help? Outboard problems....

Got an outboard I'm having trouble with...... Just had the carb rebuilt, new tank, hose, plugs, and wires..... Motor runs great at idle.... In neutral it will rev up wide open and be fine, put it gear and it will idle great until you give it the slightest bit of gas..... I'm no mechanic but obviously the guy who has cleaned it twice and rebuilt it once isn't either...... I don't understand what it could be?

not trying to insult your intelligence but I recently replace my entire fuel line and filter and had a very similar problem. Things worked well at idle speed but all bets were off when you tried to get above that when under load, ie. actually turning the prop. Turned out my problem was the new fuel line wasn't as flexible as the old and instead of making a nice bend, it had kinked under the console where I couldn't see allowing just enough fuel to work fine at idle but not enough at planing speed.

If the fuel tank cap is not venting, it will also cause that type of problem.

I would bet you still have something in one of your "high jets". I don't know what you actually call them but I have had this problem before. I have had to clean and re clean and reclean untill it works under a load

+1. Jet somewhere still sounds to be clogged

TAKE IT TO A REAL OUTBOARD MECHANIC. Turn the fuel filter with the outlet facing down and the inlet at the top.

+1 Had this same problem. It is the high speed jet. At idle the fuel flow required is very low. Once you put more load on the motor, more fuel is need. So sounds like you have a fuel restriction somewhere. My experience it was the high speed jet. The motor gets fuel from idle through another jet, but when you start to load the motor the fuel is delivered through through the larger jets.
