Canoe hauling

Anybody have any good ideas/set ups to haul a canoe from truck to duck whole. Would like to pull with 4-wheeler or manually

My old lady got me the steel frame canoe hauler from Cabelas for my birthday. I put my Marsh Rat on it and pulled it around the yard, but haven't used it hunting yet. It seems to work very well though.

Your best bet is to build a rack. However if you are going to areas that have a decent road and a 4 wheeler to handle it, weld up an extended hitch -or buy one- and hook a utility trailer to it. If you don't mind doing a little fabricating on your trailer, you can have square tubing welded to the trailer sides at all 4 corners, and then place smaller tubing in the welded brackets with a d ring holding a canoe rack onto the trailer. This way we could put the 4 wheeler/Rhino under the canoe on the trailer. When we get there, we unload the atv, unhook from the truck and hook the trailer up to the atv. Throw all of your stuff on the trailer, and when you get to the hole unload the canoe.

Voila, a single trailer pulled by one truck that holds your atv and canoe while also giving everyone a decent spot to ride and room for gear like vortex machines and deep cycle batteries. As any good meat hunter knows, deep cycle batteries are key to success.

I have an atv rack too. We built it ourselves out of steel tubing and u bolted it to the rack. I was thinking about walk in hunts. But what you're talking about is very effective if u can use atv

It's just 1" square tubing and some of the $6 tires from Harbor Freight. The "hitch" on the bike closely resembles a "dumb stick" that sells for $60. It's made of scrap 1.5" aluminum square tube. I have also improved the support on the back of the bike.

Now that is a slick rig right there! Only problem I have with it is I dont see any place for the deep cycle batteries to go or the surface drive.

That's a nifty rig right there... Love the pirogue... I got the same one except with the plastic rails... Hard to beat a good ol Ron Chapman...

It's lil top heavey and lower to cross bars and turn the pero upside down to haul it on ATV...It was built to carry 10' pram. Built it in '02


The 4ea 1" right angle conduit clamps w/saddles reversed clamps it to the bike rack...simple to take on and off.
You could take expanded metal and "basket" the top but can't put too much in it...top heavey. I use it to care layout, cart, whatever. The reason they aren't made commercially is the tump over danger, I reckon...Later DL


Or, wheels to walk one to a slough. Can't pull w/ATV (ain't allowed anyway in WMAs) cuz like the sayin goes "Push on her hard enough she will fall over."

The reason they aren't made commercially is the tump over danger, I reckon...

They are, or at least were made commercially. I've got one that quad boss made. It's adjustable lengthways to account for different mounting locations on different bikes and widthwise to account for wider boats. I put some pipe insulation or one of those foam noodles that kids use in the pool on the crossbars where the canoe/pirogue/boat sits to cut down on vibration and noise.
