Puzzling Nick Saban press conf

In a press conf earlier this week, Saban complained about the "no huddle" offenses, like the one Ole Miss now uses, as being "unfair". Can we get a collective "awwwwww"?

He cited player safety issues and inability to change defensive personnel between plays as I suppose reasons for future rules changes to stop these offenses. While the Tide had 2-3 players injured in the game against Ole Miss, it is unclear whether any such injuries had anything to do with defending the no huddle offense of the Rebs. Two of the players injured were offensive players, and one of those was injured on a punt return with no contact -- he just twisted a knee while fielding a punt. Should we ban punts too?

The no huddle offense is designed to be an equalizer in talent disparity. And the players have to be in great physical condition to run the offense and to defend against it. The inability of the defense to change personel between plays allows the offense to create some mismatches.

Very interesting comments that sound a lot like.......... whining. Very strange coming from the coach of the No 1 ranked team in country and defending national champs.

They dont call it the "hurry up offense" because it allows the defense time to adjust. We are seeing it effectively used in high school games now.

If Nick Saban wants to change the rules, then the rules will be changed.

I dont think he was whining. Thats what you do when you lose. Although i see it both ways. Some things take a little more risk to pull off.

The day they change the rules not to allow the hurry up or no huddle offense will be a sad day for football! King Saben can blow it out his booty!
