My dad is looking to get into bow hunting. However, he is a bit aged and will likely need a crossbow.

Do any of you have any recommendations on crossbow brand and/or model?

Also, what is the procedure for hunting with a crossbow. Does he need a Dr's note saying he can't pull a bow? (He had triple bypass a few years back and probably couldn't pull a bow with enough weeight to kill a deer.)

If he is over 65 he does not need anything from a doctor also you can use it as a premitive weapon during the early season for does. Barnett and Horton are two of the bigger names but plenty of other good brands, I think PSE makes them also. You may want to look at one with a crank cocking device if you think he may have problems cocking it.

Horton Vision 175 with Carbon express bolts and rage 125( for crossbow) broadhead. If he is disabled or over 65 he does not need anything from the Dr. If under 65 he will need a dr to write him a letter must be on a dr's letterhead and signed not stamped. It must state what is wrong and why he can not use a conventional vertical bow.
