Let’s just say Zack Smartt is failing at living up to his name. A huge University of Alabama fan, Smartt recently sat under a needle for three sessions totaling 10.5 hours at an Atlanta tattoo shop, earning a spot on the All-Time Worst Tattoos Ever team when the work was completed. Smartt paid $1,700 for a back tat of the Alabama elephant mascot literally enveloped by a crimson tide (or an ocean spray of cranberry juice). It’s something you might do after rocking out to Lynyrd Skynyrd while eating mushrooms and watching a replay of the most recent BCS Championship Game.
By the way, Smartt’s alma mater? Middle Tennessee State.

I'm not a tattoo fan, but the elephant looks really good. They screwed up the water.

Just because the elephant looks good doesn't mean the tattoo isn't epically stupid.

Really don't under stand the big deal with this. There are tons of people that have their whole body covered with tattoos, I have seen several huge LSUS fans with tigers on chest or back and one guy with huge colonel reb on his back.

The best part is that he went to Middle Tennessee State University. It kills me when folks play off being these die hard _____ (you fill in the school name) fans but they never even went there. It's fine if you are from Alabama and you love U of A football (or Ole Miss or where ever) even if you didn't go there, but don't try and act like you went there by having stickers on your car, wear all the clothes, post all over facebook about how much ________ school is going to kick my schools butt, when I know you went to community college, or some other small university. I went to MSU, and loved it to death, but I'm not covering everything I own in maroon and white (and I'm certainly not puting a giant tattoo of it on my back).

I grew up a Bama fan because I lived in Alabama for 10 years when I was young, and pretty much you have to choose Bama or auburn. Well later we moved to Mississippi so when it was time to go to college I went to MSU because of my major and because of out of state tuition. I am still a Bama fan first but pull for state also. I just don't see all of the sudden changing teams that I like because I could not afford out of state tuition, and probably did not help that I went to state during the dark years for football. I understand where you are coming from though I know plenty of fans of all teams that have never stepped foot on campus period but have their trucks covered with stickers and tags, but there are some like me that have memories from a young age of going to games and going to the Bryant museum. That is why I will always be a Bama fan.

By the way I also think the tattoo is ridiculous, but have never been a fan of tattoos.
