I seem to remember this same topic last year and it got a lot of responses. Wonder what happened?? Could be the 53 trucks on pipeline road at daylight last year. That was the worst display of "duck hunting" I've ever seen..

Worst display is not a personal remark. There was a lot of ducks, but people started skybustin' 10 minutes before legal shooting time. With the early shooting at ducks flying high they became unworkable immediately. I bet I heard over 500 highballs (or somethin of the sort). We came in at 4:00 am to get a hole and set a block, and at 5:45 a big whit Eddie Bauer explorer with a brand new boat and two guys with no waders and no decoys put in and came within 50 yards of us. I flashed the light and they waved at me. They anchored their boat to a stump and sat in the boat with no blind faces shining in the morning sun. So you can imagine we had very limited success. I ain't got no problem with new people coming in to this great sport, and I don't have a problem hunting on crowded public land (as long as everyone is considerate of others), I just wish maybe the newcomers would research a little more into the game and find out what is involved, and learn the ethics of hunting around others. Anyone on this forum will tell you that with all the money and time you invest to try to be a successful hunter it is fairly aggravating to have someone spoil your hunt. As I said at the first though, this ain't nothing personal since I don't know you, but I do still hunt at the Res during the weekdays when I can take off work. Best of luck to all!!!!!!

I was out on the Rez at the wildlife observatory several days ago and saw about 1000 ducks. Most were divers but did see a few cans and mallards and a hundred or so gadwalls. There are always plenty of sky busters out there. Espically on opening weekend. It usually cools some by Jan. Featherduster is right about the 400 highballs. Plenty of rookie or just plain ignorant hunters there. Most don't know and don't want to learn how to do it right.
