Well I had to try it but I don’t think I care to go that route again.
Went out with a couple hard legs hand grabbing this past weekend. I don’t see the fun in it but then again I don’t care for big fish.
They motored me up to a spot they had some tanks sunk and after watching them for a while I decided to try the thing once so I could at least say I did it.
They attached a weight belt on me and a rope around my chest just below my arm pits. I bailed off the boat and moved around till I found the entrance of the tank with my foot. I gave the high sign and went down straddling the opening and reaching into the tank to locate any occupant that might be inside. As I reached in I could feel an enormous head and when I touched it the fish lunged forward hitting me in the chest driving me back a few inches in the soft mud. I held fast and would not let him escape. He trashed around in the tank until I finally again found his head. I slowly turned him to me and reached in his mouth with rope in hand in an attempt to push it through his gills. They don’t care much for this and on top of that they bite like a cat when you’re trying to bathe them. All this had taken nearly 60 seconds and the air I had taken in before the plunge was reaching critical mass.. Since it was obvious that I was not going to succeed in roping this creature before I drowned I reached trough the gill grabbing the outside lip of the fish’s gill and lunged to the surface. Once on the surface with fish in tow the boys obviously thought I was drowning or had a snapping turtle attached due to all the splashing and gasping for O2. Once I got a breath or two (which is hard to do with a rope tight around your chest) I proclaimed that I got him and some damn body better help me get him in the boat. It was their thought that I had it roped and the pulled the line until the end came out of the water and began the (Dang he got off routine) until I hollered he ain’t off my arm yet and I think he his eating it….
Amongst the laughter they reached down and pulled out this ficken monster that weighed 67 pounds.
As I rolled back in the boat, cold, tired, and raw from the lose of hide on my arm and fingers I let them know right quick that it takes a certain breed of people to do this and“I AINâ€T ONE OF THEMâ€

And besides who wants to eat one of those big booty nasty fishy tasting things……

I'd like to see the pic of this 67 lb. monster...
Well seeing as how I was in another mans boat and didn't have my digital with me seeing a picture is going to be hard to do since I didn't take any.
But that was not the biggest one caught there were several larger than that one. Looked about like that one on the left of Ben's picture and maybe a bit larger around.
He weighted all of them as we brought them in with one of these spring weights gauges. May be off a bit but was everything two men could do to pull it in. Big fish don't impress me. I think they taste like crap and way to oily for me. Give me a box full of two pounders over any one fish over five pounds.
