CSPIRE- WE KEPT THE C. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US
Checked my cell phone bill out today.
What the hell are these people doing? They are moving in the exact opposite direction that got them to where they are nowadays. Seems like folks have always had brand loyalty for CELLULAR SOUTH, I know I have. Up until now. CellSouth may not have had the latest, greatest phones. They may not have worked with the "text 999 for your future lover's name" tv commercials, and they may not have had the most customizable plans ever. But that was the beauty of CellSouth. You could get a lot in one simple package for a reasonable price. At one point in time CellSouth had the best unlimited smart phone plan.. hell the best plan for the money-period.
It doesn't take a genius to look at other cell companies and see that they are moving in the opposite direction. They are coming up with plans or have already featured plans that are unlimited data, text, etc. Why the hell are corporate DUMBAZZES at CSpire messing up what ain't broke? To make a little extra cheese? When my contract is over, I am done with these bozos. They want to go national- fine. Have fun in that marketplace. I'm sure a few business students in the state may write a paper on the failed practices of CSpire that led to their demise, but other than that CSpire will be an afterthought sooner than later.
So they took away tethering, or free tethering at least. Fine, I'll pay the 20$ a month it's my best and cheapest option in rural areas.
Now they have this brilliant idea to only allow customers 30 minutes of streaming a month. After 30 minutes, you need to go buy a "streaming pass" mister. For what? A little extra money? How about this: when my time is up, I take your "streaming pass" and call it the "Sandusky Pass", because you are shafting my booty. We won't even discuss the demise of the unlimited smart phone plan. That will be their undoing.
And if you're roaming, forget looking up anything that requires an internet connection unless you are in an area for quite some time or are near wifi.
And now that I am traveling again I changed my plan to nationwide. I get a phone call saying I MUST use at least 50% of my data usage each month, however much that may be, in CSpire coverage area. If not, I will have to begin to pay data rates to the "borrowed" provider and some "fee" to CSpire. Who cooks this mickey mouse chit up?
At this rate, I have good mind to buy a jiiiiiterbug, and buy an android tablet with a verizon card for emails and such. After the inital investment it'd be about as cheap.
That company is going to crap. Even in this economy, what idiot running a firm would think that nickel-and-diming folks is going to work? Hell, that’s the only reason a lot of folks stay with them. What idiot would bite the hand feeding them in an effort to go national, especially in this economy? If these fools do make a major break nationally, the target will be on their back. Verizon and the others will smoke their azzes. On the contrary, if they stuck to the ways of CellSouth, which is what got CSpire to where it is today, then they would dominate the national market. It's not rocket science. Folks want a good smartphone with service and no BS with the nickel-and-diming. If you can offer that, the customers will come.
And you can say that data coverage, infrastructure, technology, is why they are charging for everything now, marching to a different tune. They want to go national and they feel they need to do what the big boys are doing, do the exact thing that their current customers loath. They definitely aren’t changing their image for the better. In fact, they are trying to make a new image, and in the process CSpire has lost its identity. I hope they make a billion dollars every day. I love capitalism. And one of the reasons it is so great is because we get to look back on companies like CSpire and see what they did wrong. It ain’t too late yet, but if they keep on those folks are looking at failure or absorption. The folks running the show have to know a lot about an enterprise like a cell company, but all I see is folks leaving in droves. So I am not so sure anymore. They better thank the iphone for their current situation.
But the fact remains in marketing and business- if it is not necessary to change, it is necessary not to change.
And what a STUPID name.

Re: CSPIRE- WE KEPT THE C. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US
I left CS after 14 years because of their 50/50 BS in-state rule about phone usage ........ on a NATIONWIDE plan at that.
Now with Verizon and haven't looked back.

I am still with them because they let me keep my unlimited smartphone plan that I have had for a few years, $60 apiece for me and the wife can't beat that. Although I am sure they will not do that again next time around but that is two years away.
Re: CSPIRE- WE KEPT THE C. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US
greenheadgrimreaper... near-epic rants almost every day.
Not to mention... you're right. I left them as well.

Guy told me once you are grandfathered in with the unlimited plan, you have it for as long as your a customer. If you ever change that plan, its gone. I have the unlimited plan as well and was asking the same questions.mshunter77 wrote:I am still with them because they let me keep my unlimited smartphone plan that I have had for a few years, $60 apiece for me and the wife can't beat that. i agree, ahd a great bussiness model, i was with them just because they are a mississippi company, and had local folks at the loval store. They would do anything for you if you had a problem but now you can tell the brains are telling them every little srep to make. Just not the same

This is true. Someone who works in the corporate office confirmed this when they were doing away with truly unlimited plan. I don't see the point of your rant. If you already have the unlimited plan and are grandfathered in you are still truly unlimited and won't get charged extra. You must have signed a new contract with them or something. If so sucks to be you. I've been with them since 99 and see no issue with the pricing they are putting out. Even with unlimited everything plus the streaming fee of $20 it is still cheaper than T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T for the same unlimited voice, data, and streaming. $80 + $40 for my phone and wife's phone unlimited everything is the best deal in the country. If you are a new customer whatever you pay for the same is still the best deal in the country.DeltaCotton12 wrote:Guy told me once you are grandfathered in with the unlimited plan, you have it for as long as your a customer. And the 50/50 thing makes sense. They have to pay higher fees for using other company's towers so how can they make money if they are paying more in fees than you pay them every month. If they didn't people from all over the US could come into MS and buy a plan that is cheaper than all of their competitors and make them lose money on every plan. So yeah they are evil for doing that.
I swear some people lack the ability to ask questions and perform simple math.

Gave them a chance and before the sun sets today will be back with AT&T. The coverage sucks, their billing practices are as suspect as a back alley dice game, their international coverage is like soup cans with string, and their "consumer services" can be suucinctly stated as "bend over, grin and bear it, this will only hurt for as long as you're too cheap to enjoy the modern era of cellular technology."

Guess I'm a luck s.o.b. then. 13 years with the company and never had any issues with them.

I've been with them for over 15 years and never have had a problem.
Re: CSPIRE- WE KEPT THE C. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM US
You may be grandfathered in until you get a new phone. I got an iphone last week and the told me after I had already paid for the phone that I would only get 30 minutes of streaming video with my plan and that I would have to pay an additional $20 per month for more streaming.

Nope the wife and I both got new iPhones and our plans did not change. And for being with them so long they discounted the early renewal by half and took about 40% off the car charges and Otter boxes for them.
