Looking to get a pool installed and looking for any recommendations on what builders to talk to and who to avoid. I live in the Delta so the closer the better. Anyone that's built a liner pool recently I would like to hear about your experience and recommendations.

Talk your nicest neighbor into building one behind their house and bring beer as a peace offering to use their pool.

Where do you live in the delta? Byron's Pools in Cleveland does most of the liner pools in the delta. Pinkston in Greenwood does gunnite....I don't know if he does liners. Both stay fairly booked up so they must do decent work.

Mike Cavanaugh. He owns Blue Haven Pools and I hunt with him in Camden. He is a hell of a guy. He travels all over the state, so the delta shouldn't be a problem. Give him a call at 601-720-2153. Tell him Burwell sent you. Might cut you a deal.

We have a pool that was here when we bought our house and my parents have 1 both have liners,if I were putting in 1 I would check out a gunnite(sp) pool over a liner pool.Alittle more exspensive on the front end but will save in the long run your gonna put a new liner in about every 7-8yrs I'm on my 3rd in 14yrs but 1 was caused by storm damage plus with gunnite you can do any shape you want.

We're pretty dead set on a liner. I grew up with liner pools and I've heard too many folks that have had problems with their gunite pools that ended up costing enough money to buy 30 years worth of liners.

Pinkston in Greenwood? I just had Barrentine put mine in and all I can say it is still leaking and my light has not been put back in. They installed it the first of march.

i have a liner pool and like. bought the house with it. Byron is good but hard to get to come do service work, or at least i have had problems. Scott Yarborough in Drew does my work and installed a liner last year for me. he does it on the side but is good.

its like anything if you talk to enough people you will hear enough good and bad to balance the scales.

Here's 2 I've worked on this year. I like those fiberglass pools. Also get the salt system.

how much does one of those fiberglass job run? I have had liners for 11 years and working on my replacing my 3rd one already.

Fiberglass is the way to go to me. I bought mine direct from the manufacture and installed it myself (except fence and concrete). I have a friend with a crane truck and he put it in the hole that my college roommate dug with his backhoe. I pretty much did the rest of the installing with my cousin. The pool cost around $12,000 (on sale and included delivery) and the entire job cost just under $20,000 and that included the filter, pumps, polaris cleaning system, cement, fence, pipes, salt cell, etc.
I have had to add two bags of salt to it this year to keep the ppm around the 3000 range and had to boost up the ph a couple of times, but that is it. Not much maintenance with a fiberglass pool at all.
Now, my pool isn't the biggest one they sell, 14 x 30, but it is plenty big for my 4 and 6 year old.
The only issue with the installation is that is was a bitch getting it level.

I did some searching online and found some other pool builders, but just don't know anything about them. If anyone has any information about any of them either good or bad please chime in.
