OK guys, if you could choose only one kind of fishing line FOR BASS, what would you chose.
Braid, monofilament or flourocarbon. What brand and what lb test.

I do all kinds of fishing, but mainly fish for crappie. We jig fish, but do alot of casting too. So, with that being said, I would use Berkley Trilene XL smooth casting in 8 lb test monofilament. I could still bream, bass and catfish with this line too.

I can't believe there's not much discussion on this topic. When we talk about it at work, it goes on and on.

Well mainly because they each have their own place. All three types of line each have their own characteristics. If you are just a weekend fun fisherman most anything will work. But if you are trying to become a serious angler and be competetive you will use all three! Like I said they each have their place. But if I had to choose just one prolly Trilene Big game in either 15 or 17 lb test would be my choice.

I love Power pro braid. 20lb-30lb is awesome on a baitcaster. Anything heavier than 30lb braid and it's counter productive. You lose casting distance and control. I don't care what anyone says, it would be damn near impossible to break 30lb powerpro bass fishing. You will straighten your hook before the line breaks. I use 10lb for spinning reels. I use 20-30lb Seaguar floro for the 3 foot leader depending on structure. Go heavier on the leader rather than the braid if you really want to. That's what will break. Mono is a bit stronger and abrasion resistant than floro, but I don't fish anything really nasty, so the invisibility factor is more important for me. But if I were fishing thicker stuff, I'd use a good mono instead.

New Berkley line called Nanofill has just come out. Check it out on Bass Pro site and read reviews. Made specifically for Spinning Reels.
BTW - my spinning reels are all loaded with Fluorocarbon.
Baitcasters - Trilene XL and Braid.
Crappie - 6lb mono

I tried P Line and hated it. It had bad line memory and never would straighten out.

I second that. Line memory was really bad

It does have some bad memory but it is tough as nails. I put KVD line and lure conditioner on it and it gets rid of the memory problem.
