neutra rats.....need help?

hey benny need sum help started to notice (about last sept.) a few of those little puckers starting to hang around sum of my ponds.would take a few out every weekend and after a while thought they were gone, did not see them untill jan. while hunting one of my ponds i noticed them building a little hut like a beaver does. (got 7 old catfish ponds, one that i drain and plant to hunt doves and then flood to hunt ducks) anyway, thougt once again that i had goting rid of them have you ever seen wut a 3 1/2 does to those little dudes at 2 yards? they are leaving little trails up and down the levees (that just pisses me off )

1- is there any thing i can do besides shoot them every time i see them?

2-i cant catch them in my beaver traps or i say that i cant cause they have not been caught yet... or can they?

3- or should i be looking for recipe for those little boogers to feed my freinds like teul2 and chuckel when i take them hunting for the first time and tell them that it is beef stew....ha..ha..ha!

they have started to migrate from panther swamp, which is across the road and there is a little brake of water to connect going under the road. so it seems like i will always have this problem as long as there is water? the beavers are not as big of a problem...a few will move in and i will let them get settled and then put out traps and bust there head as they come through the trap.....BAAMM! SO FUNNY to see that look that they have on there face when you walk up and see them stuck in the trap
i dont wont the nuetra rats to become a problem.... just wanted to know if you had any suggestions are pointers that i could try! thanks for any help!

There was a nutria festival about a month ago somewhere in Louisiana. They had such events as a nutria throwing contest and a nutria shoot. They also served nutria gumbo. I was told it didn't taste bad, but the dude who told me that was a coonass and they eat just about anything.

you can do whatever you want with a nutria. They aren't real smart, you can trap them, shoot them, do whatever. They are fun to shoot, we "varmint hunt" them. Get in a boat with a .223 and see how far you can pick them off crossing a canal or treanuse. The eat a little better than rabbit, they are some kind of good. Also one nutria eats like 5-10lbs of grass a day so they can really be destructive, not to mention they can have a litter of young ones every couple of months, wipe them out as fast as you can.

Shotgun works the best. You can kill a whole family when they're all in a big pile sunning. I had to run them out of my blind all season long so I started paddling around in the pee-row, shooting everone I could after I got done hunting. Didn't even put a dent in the population though. Wasted a lot of highdollar steel shot like that. I plan on going in two weeks before opening weekend next year with my 22 and kill'em from sun up to sun down.

280 or 330 conibear works wonders....in fact, they are so drawn to them, it's almost a miracle not to catch one.

Just set your traps somwhere and claim outloud "I WILL CATCH NO NUTRIA IN THIS SET!" and you should start catching them before you get out of earshot of the trap.

I hate the little suckers.

But...since they are classified as furbearers ( http://www.mscode.com/free/statutes/49/007/0001.htm ) this is only legal during trapping season. Too bad they aren't classed with the beavers in the predator category.

If there is a culvert under the road you can build yoiu a grate out of 1 inch tubing and rebarb and then take about 1 1/2 channel Iron and that will stop them from comeing through the culvert.

thanks for the advice put a little hurt on them sat. nite watched my little brother miss them like a charm may be got a few of them? i tell u wut we sure did put a hurting on the snakes probably killed about 30 all weekend... sum big son of guns too

Them boys take their nutria hunting serious. They even threw in a recipe. Their motto in La is save the marsh land - eat a nutria.
