any ideas/suggestions on somewhere to go or something to do with family this weekend. Have a 4 y/o daughter and would like to do something for her. Do not want to travel too far due to it only being for a weekend, dont want to spend the entire time in a car.

The McWane Science Center in Birmingham is great. You could also go to the zoo the next day.

+1 on the WWII museum. Should be a requirement that everyone at least go once.

Just stay in close by and find a hotel with an indoor pool. Get her a floatie. I just about bet she will have more fun at the pool than anything else. The Drury Inn on county line has one and they give you a good little light meal for supper, a couple of light drinks in the evening and a pretty good hotel breakfast.

Pack a picnic lunch and go down to Grand Gulf Park......there's alot of neat stuff there, and my girls still remember climbing all the way up the fire tower. One of my favorite pictures of my now 23 year old daughter was taken on the porch of an old cabin there when she was about 5. Also, like someone else mentioned, stop by Vicksburg and visit the National Military Park.....it's got stuff for everybody.
Enjoy 'em while they are young because they will be grown and gone before you realize it!
