About Time

Postby WilM88 » Sun Jan 22, 2012 3:22 pm

Well after months of grinding to shoot a wood duck or a ring neck and were the mallards have been few and far between, It finally came together yesterday morning and boy did I quickly forget about all the early mornings and long walks of hardly firing a shot. Here are a few pics from the morning. The pup picked up almost more birds in that one hunt than he had all year previously.

Nice! But the fact that you were with Ted kinda takes a little bit away from the deal.

2nd picture.....can't put my finger on it, but something is taking away from the harvest. can't decide if it's the camper or the thug. both are distracting

Yes, it is mobile but stays at the camper. Compliments of Up2Early.

We are still trying to figure that out. We have the biologist looking at them to declare what species they are? Who knows.. They sure were fun to shoot.

I got the idea from chopper, but built it so the rail sits in slots on the posts. It all comes apart so we can store it under the trailer.

David - been thinking about building one for my camp using reclaimed cypress from the barn on the property & meant to post this a week or so ago.
I've seen pics of several different ones from afar, but not clear on the details. Is that just finish nails in a staggered pattern and you just stab the side of the head into the nail or what? Yours is the first one I've seen that orient the ducks this way. Most of them look like they just stick them under the bill or something. I've even seen them where it appears that they drilled holes to stick the duck bills into. Just looking for different ideas. Would like to see some others as well.
Sorry for he hijack Wil & Ted.
