Then again it's a drag race at 5:00 so which would you rather have?

I don't think it matters what time you get away from the landing.........there's always gonna be some 'Billy-Bob' comin'-in about shootin' time and screwin' it up for everybody else.

Besides......the big ducks aren't gonna work until after 9:00.......they've been 'patterning' hunters for years and know that's about the time they head to the coffee shop for a BIG BOY breakfast.

First light is woody skybustin' time, so 50 boats motoring thru the fog at daybreak isn't gonna have an adverse affect on the quality of hunting at that hour, anyway. :?

Personally, I like the idea of first-come, first-served........'let's other folks know what they gotta endure to beat you to a spot.....then decide if it's worth it. Heck, that's part of the 'fun'......'gettin' to your competition.

'Course.......alll this, assuming everybody's headed for the same 'spot'. I mean, there's only one spot that will produce a limit that day.....and everybody thinks just cause that's where they've decided the birds are gonna be, naturally everybody else will be going there, too......right?

I am for it...

#1. I like my sleep
#2. I like my sleep
#3. I like my sleep
#4. If the water is up, I've got the fastest duck boat this side of the Mississippi and I aint afraid to gap er wide!!
#5. If the water is down, I've got the meanest-fastest duck boat this side of the Mississippi; one speed…. Gapped friggin wide!!
#6. If you try to leave early I hunt w/2 of the meanest hombres this side of the Mississippi (one of the dem is also a law bouy)
#7. If you leave early, I am still going hunting where I want, so don’t get pissy if I set up 50 ft from yo spread (if so, refer to #6). Or you better have breakfast a cookin…. Hot bacon is the only thing that’s gonna stops em!!!

Places where they got the rule now will become like the others if they change....people sleepin in boats/trucks runnin around in the woods/waterways all hours of the night. I think it's needed in certain areas and that's why they have it. Keeps some places civil. Never really enforced is the problem with some people/places. Half the challenge is outwittin the other nuts! like Anat says. How would it be, you got there at 3am and treked couple of miles only to find somebody "camped out" At least when ereybody leaves together/ at same time you know what's up. Some places the birds are flushed at daylight and the come back deal. How would it be if they get flushed way earlly/ stirred up all night....no come back? Lotta different situations, the rule helps where it's needed. Why did they initiate the rule?

I like the 3am time or none at all. At least when we could launch at 3 am I had time to fix some sausage and breakfast burritos on my portable propane stove! HEHE. and then had time to put some hot coco on the little stove before the mallards came in!

For it. Like my sleep too. Get up too early, get a sinking spell before noon.

I'm thinking about having a little fun with the "spend- the- nighters", if such absurdity returns to the area I hunt. Planning a little midnight run into the woods to see if I can scare the sh## out of some folks. Gets awful dark and creepy out there at night with no moonlight. Gonna lay a little "Blair Witch" mojo on em, or some Texas Chainsaw Massacre inbred jed action on em.

Quite frankly, the 5:00 a.m. rule is wrong because it just doesn't give enough time to do what you gotta do and be set.

Depending on 100 variables, I like to put out a lot of decoys, maybe a jerk string, find a decent spot to hide and get hidden & set there, maybe I'm going to go off and hide the boat, I gotta pee, and do about 50 more things before I can relax and have a cup of coffee. I like the area to "quiet down" from my disturbance and be sipping coffee 30 minutes BEFORE legal shooting time, maybe even have ducks on the water (alive & swimming) shortly after that. I like to have more time to do all that without being in dad blamed hurry up "@#$%#" rush. Sometimes the distance to travel from the jump-off point can really be a factor in eating up time.

Too many people bunch up by 5:00 a.m. It should be a 3:00 a.m. rule and I'd be happy. A few would get there at 2:30 and haul booty at 3:00 but by and large people would generally show up within "normal" time variables and trickle out into the woods.

Close the WMAs to everyone who lives out of county and out of state. Require a $1,000 a year permit for each WMA hunted. Ban all outboard motors, paddling or push poling only. Ban all electronic devices, mojos and swimming decoys. No more than 6 shells per hunter. If you are a good shot, that's all you need anyway. No gun larger than a 28 guage could be used. Ban all Q-Beams, no lights larger than a pin light could be used. No one should be allowed to leave the landing after 1 a.m. If you REALLY want to hunt, you will be there before midnight. Limit 12 decoys per hole, too much banging around picking up decoys will spook ducks working other hunters. Require the MSDWFP to have a notory public on site to stamp each hunters license in case it is not authentic. Ban all plastic reed duck calls, metal reed calls only. Require all retrievers that will be hunting the area to have at least 20 hours of water safety courses accompanied by a completion certificate with a certified notory stamp. All retrievers must have a personal floatation device.

It really wouldn't help anything at all. The only thing that it would do is create a lot of trouble at the boat ramp. There will be folks there at 3 am to make sure that they are first to launch and when 5 am comes everyone will be in such a hurry that more accidents will be likely to occur.
I say keep it the way it is. If someone wants to get to the hole at 3 am then why not let him he earned if he is willing to get up that early.

Who was involed in the fight at the Scatters landing last year besides Dale Adams? Were assault charges filed? Was it because of the 5 a.m. rule?

IT WILL BE JUST LIKE A BLAST OFF AT A BASS TOURNAMENT NET THING YOU KNOW WILL BE USING 200 HP ENGINES TO DUCK HUNT WITH AND THEN IT WILL GET REAL UNSAFE I WON'T BE IN AN AREA LIKE THAT AND THAT'S WHAT IT WILL COME TOO
