Bentonia Crosses and ACLU. UPDATED

Have yall heard about Bentonia having to take down the lighted crosses on the water tower. Apparently the ACLU was threatening a lawsuit because one resident was offended by them.

Didn't notice tonight if they were there. I knwo they were last week, showed them to my kids. Hopefully that isn't true.

I saw that article today. In my opinion the one "offended" resident should be told that if they don't like the
Crosses they can either not look at them or move. Life is full of choices.

Wasn't this country founded on Christian values? Why must we bend over to serve them when they are offended? How about us when taking a cross down offends the majority of us? Dont wait folks, get ya heart right now, it wont be long.

Some of y'all may remember the Sillers Building in Jackson used to have a cross lit up every Christmas. ACLU came in and raised Hell about that one. Some folks just got to much time on their hands to go around fussing about that kind of stuff. If you don't like it, don't look at it.

Surely someone with private land can put up an even larger cross. I'd help pay for it.

Definitely true. Not only that, the crosses used to provide light for the neighborhood. Now thieves can roam as they please without being seen. Property protected by God and Smith & Wesson...... :mrgreen:

That would be a great idea. I believe someone has petition going on Facebook, they have a picture of the cross and if you like the picture they are using your name on the petition, it may be through the yazoo herald not sure.

Thanks to private fund raising the crosses will be put back up. This time 30 feet higher and will be LEDs. Dontations can be made to bentonia baptist church.
