CF glad you and sprig and skippyj made it ,,,,,,,,We or I am changing some of the format for next years event ,,,,,for the better i hope !
1. We will go to a pass or fail system with ribbons for passes ,,,,as in hunt test.
2. We will have a junior handler class 14 years and younger ,,,,,,,,it may knock me out of a ribbon but so be it
3. The test will be set up as hunt test for junior/started and senior/seasoned and a master/finished ,,,,,all with the pass/fail system .
4. We will have a challenge for OPEN dogs only ,,,,,this class will have trophy's 1st 2nd 3rd It will be tough ,,,,somewhere along the lines of the SRS and depending on entries we may have to go to a 2 day event with the challenge being run for all to see .
Ya'll have all made this a super event for a great cause and it only gets better with folks like the msduckers. Stay tuned for updates ........CC

Not real crazy about the pass/fail deal. Our setup was unique and it offered the better dogs a chance to play more with the callbacks. Problem was, we ran out of time. We only had callbacks in the junior dogs, and the junior puppy dogs. We really needed to have one in the Senior dogs as I thought 4 or 5 dogs were all right on top of each other. The open could have used a call back as well, but again we would have never gotten the event done if we had done so.
I believe the puppies should go to a pass/fail, but I think the others should stay as we had it but run all the dogs but the open dogs on Saturday.....Run the open on Sunday with a land series, and the top 5 advancing to a water series. We are also probably going to have to run the pups, junior, and senior dogs all at the same time on Saturday, or at least the pups and junior dogs in the morning, break for lunch, then run the Senior dogs so we don't need as many judges.
I think an SRS format would be fun for the open, but it would take a ton of time depending on the number of entries.
My 2 cents.........

Agree with DIB.
You can do everything in one day. No sunday needed.

Depending on entries there is no way to do it all in one day without more judges and more help ,,,,,,,im just throwing some stuff out there !!!!!!!!!!

I like the pass fail system. More help will be needed because there is not enough time in the day. I will be able to help next year. At least I can be a bird boy or something

I think we should run as many groups as possible at one time and keep it on the format that we used it worked. You start running a HT format and you are gona need lot more help and will take twice as long. It would be nice to be bale to do this in one day and get done early as possible that way everyone can have a little more fellowship time and enjoy the grounds.JMHO......but either way i'll be doing what ya need...

The issue I see with Sunday............
After cooking all those bugs and putting down as many pops as I did this year, I'll need a handler for my dogs on Sunday next year
It matters none to me, I like both deals. I'll be there next year no matter how it pans out.
On the pass/fail deal. I have plenty of ribbons right now. Yes an MS ducks ribbon would be good, but I get just as much satisfaction having my dog being one of 6-9 that picked up both open marks. The ribbon wouldn't have made a big difference. JMO
Heck when it boils down to it, it's just running dogs that is fun for all of us, and a 1st, 2nd, 3rd is completely different than most of what we do every weekend. I say keep it different.

I liked the way it was set up this year. The only thing lacking was maybe a few extra judges. Then, some classes could run at the same time. Otherwise, I think it went great and everyone seemed to be happy with the way it was run. I also liked the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. It was a fun change from hunt tests. But, regardless of how its set up next year I will be there!
