Update: 26 days old today!

Little Baylee had her ventilator removed today :D and has the CPAP mask. So far she is doing fine. If the energy expense is worth it she will stay off.....If her blood gas tests remain good the she will stay off. If she needs support then she will go back on the vent. But, it's a progressive milestone for us and we are thankful. Thankful for the prayers from all of you. The support has been immeasurable.

All her tests of late have been, according the doctors, "not interesting". That is also good.....

Grow baby grow...........

Great news Troy. I know it feels a whole lot better to be able to see and hold your little one off the vent!

Thanks for sharing this big milestone with us,

Bill

Great news.

Even though I get email notices on this thread, I still go out and check it every day to see how Miss Baylee is doing.

Prayers still coming your way little girl.

baylee went back on vent, she did well on her own for 8 hours, and troy said she even laid on her belly for the first time in her life. Just worn out, and worn out means no growth. Its a balancing act, and going back and forth on the vent is a normal part of it. Its not a set back, its pretty typical, and troy's attitude is postive, being able to see the good in what happened. Not intresting is a wonderful thing. travis

The 8 hrs off a vent tells how strong this little girl is. For a child ,who should still be in the womb, to be breathing on her own is a miracle.

Troy & Heather. The prayers are still coming, not only for Baylee but also for you two.

UPDATE 01/11/07: 29 days old

Baylee still remains tough. No complications since heart surgery.
No infections and doctors say that is amazing in itself.
Feedings are going well.
She is up to a whopping 2.16 lbs
No guess when they will try vent removal again. She is on a different breathing machine that's more high-tech than a standard ventilator. She's doing well with that. It is supposed to be easier on her lungs.
Her blood gas test have went to twice daily vs. 4 times. That's good. That in itself cuts the "pricks" to her little feet in half. Feet look like a pincushion poor girl.

Issue today is that they want to send her back to Germantown Methodist from LeBonheur. That really means that she is doing well and is not sick enough to be there but we DO NOT want to go. It will more than double our drive to see her and there are structured visiting hours that severly limits our time with her. No where to sit when we visit; we can only stand at bedside mostly. It's crowded and noisy, very well lit and I think the babies do not get enough of a chance to rest and sleep. We may end up at Arkansas Childrens Hosptial in Little Rock and Heather can live with my sister. It's 5 minutes away from hospital and they have no structured visiting hours. Save gas and hotel; save literally a few thousand $$.

We will decide that today at some point. Praying about that too.

Thanks everyone,
Troy
