Saban actually did receive an NCAA investigation or inquiry while at LSU, although minor. The reason I know this is a buddy of mine broke the story. That buddy is now a senior writer for ESPN Magazine and .com, so he is not a hack. They had a teacher that got tired of giving grades. The story broke in the Times Picayune in 2001 or 2002 and resulted in an inquiry. I also know that he would have vehicles purchased for athletes, however, this is not unusual either, anyone who saw Duece or Romaro on the Ole Miss campus can tell you that. They simply purchase the vehicles out of state and title them out of state. A simple run of the plates will give you the info you need.
He has had numerous reports of dirty recruiting filed by high school coaches and other schools. Admittedly, other schools fear his recruiting and file these reports.
By the way, I am not trying to get in the middle of this Bama v Auburn fewding...it is quite funny to watch.
Webby, I agree that Tubby leaving will probably set the program back many years. Moreover, the MS State job is probably more appealing right now because they have money and the expectations are not as high. Plus, nobody wants any of Saban.
Saban is good enough to operate right on the fringe, similar to Pete Carroll.
