I am good friends with the guy in IT..I could probably get him in on it.
Put ink on the earpiece of his phone. If he has a black mouse, put ink on his mouse. If he has a ball mouse, take the ball out and hide it.
You could wrap everything in his office in aluminum foil.

Mouse taping in progress. We put a fake bird in the tree once and asked him what it was. He didnt want to get too close and scare it off so he knelt down in the parking lot just looking at it. After no less than 20 minutes he finally inched his way up close enough to see it wasnt real. He was furious. He doesnt have an office of his own..just a cube!

last week my daughter had a friend over..we were watching TV and I heaqrd a cell phone beep....like it needed charging...well I go into the kitchen and check mine and wifes..both are off
few minutes later it beeps again...it would beep about every 5 minutes...it took me over 30 minutes to find that phone....it would sound like it was in the kitchen..I'd stand in there, and the sound would come from the bedroom....this went on til I had wife and 2 younger kids standing around with the tv off looking for this phone...
FINALLY, daughter came downstairs....the beep was coming from upstairs, but we couldn't 'hone in' on it.......DOH!
that would drive them crazy

Mouse taping didnt phase him a bit. He removed the tape without saying a word and went right back to work.
I was thinking about the other prank. If they have a water fountain in their yard you could always put some food coloring and dish or laundry soap in it. A friend of mine did that at the town square once. It bubbled up everything. She had to wash all of the windows of nearby businesses and do some other community service. I had nothing to do with it...

As far as office pranks: If they have a phone with a removable mouthpiece on the headset, remove it and put a piece of tape on the back side of it. It will bother them for a little while trying to figure it out.

If they have a computer you can also take all the keys off the keyboard and rearrange them in a different order. or set the sticky keys function up to open up some gay pride website if they hit a certain key. did this to a guy on the rig before they started blocking everything.

We had a guy at our office that was a lil lite in the loafers. So when he was away from his desk we used to make penises out of paper clips, screws, pencils, whatever was lying around. We also glued his phone together, replaced the sugar with salt, throwed gum by his door on his car where he would step in it, and the best readjusted his chair. Everybody that sits at a desk all day has their chair just right. Well make it shorter, move the arm rest, the back, anything that can be readjusted. The last time we did this the guy went crazy. For this to work it make take repetition.

Find a restaurant that faxes out their menu. Sign his office phone or his cell phone up. The phone will ring off the hook.
Plastic wrap on the outside of the cubicle walls, then fill with packing peanuts.

Couple of very quick ones, but you'll need him to leave his PC unlocked for a few minutes.
1. Go to Control Panel->Mouse and click the checkbox for "left-handed" or "switch right and left buttons". The PC will interpret a right click as a left-click and the target has no freaking clue as to what's going on. I've seen guys with 20+ years' experience get all frustrated over this one.
2. Go into Outlook and MS-Word and change their default font color to white. They'll spend an hour trying to figure out why they're typing but nothing is showing up on the screen.
More if you need 'em, but this should keep you busy for a week or so.

I've got a little executable file that you replace the internet explorer icon with, you have to make it look like the IE icon as well, that will "melt" the screen when clicked. It won't stop "melting" until you hit the escape key. Many a coworker has called me, some almost crying, hoping that I can help them.
