prayer for Goosebruce
Re: prayer for Goosebruce
I know i don't speak just for myself on this one. When i saw the post that it was nothing to serious with your health it was a huge relief for me and i'm sure others. I agree with you travis that all of us on this forum have been blessed with a great life and great friends. I kept thinking about this past weekend while checking every 5 min on this forum for updates on your health. For those of you who missed this past weekend at Steve's place i'm truely sorry. Word of advice be at the next one! Travis threw out a great idea and the members of SFHRC went to work and put on the most fun and informational weekend i've ever had! If you want to see a HRC club at it's finest SFHRC is as close as it gets in IMO. We all share the same love of the game and would bend over backwards for every member we have.
Travis I hope you get back to your normal self in no time becuase i don't know how we would all these great things done without ya brother! Just wouldn't be the same. God speed to a speedy recovery!

Well T-Bone I hope you are feeling better.. From now on I think I won't listen to trey when he says to do something... As far as the bending over part not too keen myself of doing that with any of those SFHRC guys. Trykon you might want to think about what exactly you are typing next time...

Re: prayer for Goosebruce
Immedately after the neruologist came back with the good news, and left the room last night, my wife started crying. Told me I had problems at home with a dog. My little Cash dog had died yesterday afternoon. Cash was a rowdy puppy, owned by a now 16 year old girl, the daughter of one of my best friends. Shelby had saved her money from babysitting, from making goose feather pens (from the geese that rowdy retreived, was how she sold them) and selling them, and slicking her parents out of double allowence, to buy a rowdy puppy. Some people might remember the magazine articals I wrote about her in hunteen magazine. Steve had forced & cc cash for shelby over a year ago, but she'd never let the dog be gone long enough to be trained. Now being 16, running track, working, taking college courses early and doing all the other stuff she does, her dad kenny and I finally got her dog away from her long enough to do something with it. Id had cash 6 weeks. I had to call kenny on the way home from the hospital to tell him, and get up this morning and take dog for an autospsi. Then go by and tell her this morning her dog was dead. If thats not bad enough, tj is the one who found her last night, and is convinced had he been here, she'd be ok. He was gone to a cousins, cause I didnt want him to know I was in the hosiptal and worry. Now he thinks hes at fault over this little dog. I guess the worst is over, telling her this morning, and talking with tj, but I still got to take her to see vet after the procedure to say goodby and then do what she wants with cash's body. To say this week sucks is an understatement.
My doctor is on vacation. Got an apt with his partner tommorrow morning, for him to look at my stuff from the hospital and clear me to go back to work monday (at the earliest). Its gonna be a real bind for me not to be at work tommorrow, but I can't do anything about it. Wifes already made a list, of stuff I can't do. 4 days on the couch will kill me as dead as a bullet. We compromised and said nothing today or tommorrow, but maybe saturday morning I can do something with her here to monitor it. We just went to captain d's to have our first hart healthy meal out. Baked tilipa over rice, and a dry baked potatoe. She went to work after that, wondering if she stopped for a choclate bar on the way! She promises she's gonna do this too (her blood pressure is always at near stroke level, so the AHA diet will be good for her too).
With this week off work, no way am I gonna be able to make Iowa. Already called steve about taking my boys. Hes convinced I'll find a way to go. Not but 2 people Id trust rowdy with.. hes in worst shape than I am. Everybody tells you they'll pull your dog from a test before they'd hurt em, but belive me, it ain't so. Nobody wants to call you and say I pulled your dog from the grand because he was getting hot... Only 2 people truely understand I wouldn't care just don't hurt my buddy. I know dozens who'd do whatever they could, and Id trust any other animal too, but not rowdy with his stamina/ respritory issues.
I'm not whining. I don't guess. I am, but if I am, bear with me Im having a bad week! Just feels good to say that stuff, and get it off my chest. Besides, I can't go anywhere (bwhahaha). Ive already watched 3 days of tv this week, more than Ive seen in the last 6 months put together.
I did get a call a few minutes ago from a friend. Said he had been on AHA (american heart association) website, looking at the diet. Maybe thats the bright spot in this miserable week, somebody else gets a wake up call without having to step on the rake in the yard and crossing their own eyes. Sitting in that cardiac ward this week getting my chest hair shaved for a test, and looking at the other people in their, was EYE OPENING. It wasnt the 400 pound tub of guts you'd expect... heck it was guys that look like me. Sure I was 10 years younger than them, but they where my size or a little bigger. And every interview started the same way... do you smoke? how many packs? The lady never checked up at the first question, because she knew the answer was YES. The answer was always yes. Every time she had that interview, it was yes. Not having a medical background myself, it was very obvious to me heart problems without smoking, hi blood pressure, and cholestrol just don't happen. Oh you can add herdity and stress to that list, but since the first 3 people do to themselves, I don't think they even belong in the same thought process. How those cardiac doctors don't just smack the ever loving crap out of the people in front of them is beyond me. One guy on a gurney next to me, had been in their 3x over the last 7 years... had the ballon thingy, and stints, but this time he was gonna diet and stop smoking! Oh my God... And he was a great guy... he's the kinda guy you'd stand outside in the rain and smoke with.... how they couldn't just dump that guy in the floor and kick the crap outta him was beyond me.
They still never explained my mini stroke monday. So I know, I got to fix it. Their aint a pill, or a surgery, or a procdure, cause they couldn't find anything defiente. Maybe everything I felt could be explained by aniexty or stress or anything else. But my blood pressure checking 25 points lower than it ever has before or since, while that stuff was happening, welp, that was an occurance of sometype. Everyone knows hart problems can cause strokes. Hey, now I know they will cause them, and I got a taste of something really really bad, and got off dirt cheap.
To everyone reading this... I aint gonna lie and say I'll never eat another peice of fried chicken, or french fries, cause I know that ain't true and I don't lie ever. But if anyone here every sees me with another smoke, feel free to kick the ever loving crap out of me, I got it coming. I've been smoking longer than I've been fat, and it's bout the hardest thing in the world to not do. Cept for not breathing. travis

Re: prayer for Goosebruce
Dad smoked five packs a day for 34 years, had a heart attack and quit them that day. No one on the face of this earth loved cigs more than him, and if he can quit, anybody can quit.
Word of advice, if you go the nicotine patch route, do not wear them while you're sleeping. You will have some of the worst nightmares imaginable and may have to answer questions about former relationships with women when you call out their name while talking in your sleep.

Travis, Glad to see you are going to be ok. We all get wake up calls in life. Sounds like you were fortunate in getting yours when you did.
Dave had knee surgery Wednesday morning last week to fix a torn meniscus. Was supposed to be out patient....but he spent 2 nights there because his heart spiked from 70 to 150 when they released the tourniquet on his leg after the surgery. They figured that some of the pain meds that were put directly in his knee must have been forced into the blood vessels and made it's way to his heart knocking it out of whack. So they started giving him some meds to counter act that stuff and admitted him on a heart monitor for the rest of the day and night. They thought it would clear up quickly but it didn't and he needed more and different meds. His heart was beating at all sorts of speeds all day. It was beating like he had run a marathon. They said he was in A Fib - which didn't mean a little white lie. The doctor said they had one more thing to try over night and if it didnt' work they woul have to call in a cardiologist and he woudl possibly have to shock the heart back in to a natural rhythm - with paddles like you see on TV. He finally had his last spike (120) around 5:30 Thursday morning. And he stayed in through the day. They were considering releasing him that afternoon but then the medications to stablize his heart made him light headed and nauseous, so he had to spend one more night.
He was finally home. Slept for 2 days straight getting rested from his hospital visit and now is reading - has completed on John Grisham novel and is about halfway through with the 2nd. We've watched 5 or 6 movies, and he's gone through the Danny Farmer 2 cd basic video....which is really good, by the way. Now he just has to wait until workman's comp oks his rehab and he'll be on the road to recovery.
Having heart trouble really shook him up. His oldest brother has been on a pacemaker for the past 15 years. They recently removed it after they found something that works to keep his ticker running steady. That was at the forefront of Dave's mind while he was going through this. But it appears to have just been drug induced this time.
We both need to start getting more exercise and will as soon as his knee recovers.
Take care and enjoy life with out the smokes!

doc cleared me this morning to go back to work monday. had a headache this am, and when checked blood pressure at docs it was 96 over low 70 sumthing... too low. doc removed one of my kidney stone meds (hctz) that acts as a mutipler, and will reck blood pressure in 2 weeks, if where it needs to be will lower dosage on my blood pressure medicine.
lost 8 pounds this week eating fruit and no fat, and thats with NO activity. Hoping to be skinny before all my chest hair they shaved grows back in!
cholestrol is out of bounds its so whacked... it doesnt respond as fast as a little extra weight does. on the aha diet, I'll fix that too!
vikki, Im glad dave is doing better. Man me and him in the hospital with hart problems the same week, kinda makes ya think maybe God had a hunt test planned and needed a couple judges! Glad he postponed the event! travis

Yes, sir, thank goodness...I heard it was cancelled due to nobody wanting to run under the two of you together!
Have a good rest this weekend....Dave recommends reading "The Partner" by John Grisham....even if you aren't a recreational reader....he said it grabs you right away and you can hardly put it down til the end. The one he's on now is "The Bretheran" - it took a little bit to get into it, but it has him now.

I don't think that vicariously enjoying "whatever" with Angelina Jolie is exactly resting.....but it is good to know you are getting your share of entertainment.
I do know for a fact that when Dave's heart rate spiked for the last time at around 5:30 in the morning, he was being helped into the john by a pretty young nurse. And he started getting nauseous right after the big ugly one offered to give him a sponge bath....coincidence?????? I think not!
