Pretty sure that's not how it works. Game wardens don't write $6, $30,000, or $695,000 on the ticket. They just write a ticket based on what law(s) is being broken. The judge assigns the penalty, and he does so using the laws that state or federal congress passes.

When are the ducks supposed to be here again?

I had a warden come talk to me straight out of college and the starting pay was around 26-27 grand. Now I am no where near smart but I would not risk my life to make the state that kind of money for 27 grand a year.

I saw this online.

Look at the picture of the duck hole in question. That does look excessive.

Im not sure that photo is of the same duck hole. Looking at the other articles, it may be what they call a "stock photo", not the actual one. Who knows, who cares really. Its BS for a man to have to pay that kind of fine though.

Is there a "possibly" that some whistle-blower money is being awarded in some of these cases, where these big-money fines are handed down.

Guys, the fine wasn't $30,000. That is what he pled to. It was at least $100,000.

I saw earlier where a poster said the guy leased land out from under someone else. The person in question is a farmer that has a good bit of family land left to him in estate when parents died. He grew up in the area and with the land.

I work with one of the guys that spotted one of the wardens hiding in some bushes when he went back to retrieve a duck. Their wives were actually there hunting with them that day. When hiding warden was spotted they yelled at him to identify himself and he took off. When they ran over the turn row and down the ditch he was standing there pointing a gun at them.

Deltaquack, could you post what this group of hunters did to "deserve" the obscene fines that they got? thanks
