Boat sunk at Greentree this morning.....
Re: Boat sunk at Greentree this morning.....
Actually a PFD doesn't go very far at all when thrown, that's why they make throwables and that's why any boat over 16 feet has to have at least one type 4.

Thank you Jim, I certainly will.GreenheadJim wrote:I had a couple of GW and various other people tell me that the C02 life vests would not operate proplerly under freezing temps. The rule is , we don't leave the ramp without everyone wearing theirs. I hunt with mine on and never know it's there. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten in the truck with mine still on.... Very comfortable. To inflate, you pull a tab at the bottom of the zipper.... The only issue is if you are rendered un-conscience at impact and can't deploy the vest.... I've read you can buy them with water sensors that self inflate but I couldn't find them.
I am not sure of the brand I bought but I ordered them online from Mac's for about $150 each. Worth every penny, in my opinion.

Good stuff there. I always heard about pfds, "They can not work if you do not wear them."duckhunterdoc wrote:Not trying to "win" an argument... but more info on why you should wear neoprene waders and a pfd in a boat--some other good info also...http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/education_ ... hure06.pdf
