I second that Ramsey, but no one has mentioned Chuck's in Rolling Fork or the Stu-mart in Cary if these are still open. Those two women in the Stumart would put a soul food plate on you that you couldnt wash off and the Chuck burger with chili, bacon, cheese, and cole slaw. Brings back memories of the lower delta. You had to step on the double bacon cheeseburger at the Bear store just to get it too fit in your mouth. Now I reside at the Blue and White daily after the hunt. It is still good but has lost some of the local flavor. Oh, by the way best fried chicken in Tunica is at the Hole in the Wall quick stop next to the piggly wiggly. You got get there between 9am and 11am to get the best grub.

Stu-marts has been closed for at LEAST 5 years. The owners son graduated with my daughter, the econmy in Cary collapsed before the economy got bad everywhere, lol. They had an all you can eat seafood dinner on Fridays that I still miss.

Chuck's is hit or miss now that Chuck sold it and his son Gary isn't running it anymore (it was sold a few years back, Gary moved to Yazoo and Chuck is too old to run it day to day). The good news for hunters is on Saturday morning all of the old cooks are working. Getting your food to go is sometimes a big gamble on portion size and quality.

I can't say that I went to Onward a lot when the original owners had it but it was legendary. A new owner has had it for several years now, and the problem I have is you can never tell if the kitchen will be open or not. My wife and I have attempted to stop on the way home from Vicksburg several times to find the kitchen closed at 7pm on a Friday. Some people rave about the food, but it is rather expensive (comparable to Rusty's). When I've stopped in, sometimes the place isn't stocked well (cokes/beer/food).

We still have Amaco (it's officially called "Maranto's Corner" now, they cut ties with Amaco/BP recently) in Anguilla. Best fried chicken around. There's also "Mandy's Kettle" which is a small soul food stand across from Amaco in Anguilla. In RF, we've moved up to a Subway and we have a new pizza place called "Flat Land Pizza". The "HWY 61 Cafee" was reopened by a black guy and then it mysteriously burned down - I hear he's fixing to reopen in George Mahalitc's store at Grace (formerly Farmer's Grocery). Over at Holly Bluff, Chuck Perry has reopened Lake George Grocery, I haven't made it over there yet.
