Re: Jeff Foiles in a $hit ton of trouble
Not once have I watched his videos or purchased his products. His portrayed brand image in ads runs contrary even to my occaisonally hardcore parakeet-killing sensibilities. Grinding - the practice of an entire hunting party shooting a falling bird all the way to the ground may sell ammo, black hoodies, fire-striped calls and face paint, but does little for the continued tradition of waterfowling. His brand image is evidence that honor among hunters, if not humanity in general, and respect for the resources are waning - which is probably why federal law enforcement dedicated themselves to making Mr. Foiles the Al Capone of Duck Hunting Poster Boy. Heard purely second-hand innuendo for which authenticity is not be guaranteed that a scornful ex-wife tipped the feds pursuant to nasty divorce proceedings, and that a vendor owed a considerable sum was told by federal sources to write it off, that the 53 years Mr. Foiles would never be able to meet those obligations. If case facts are true, all I got to say is good riddance.

Oh how classic if indeed the scorned wife bit is true.

What is sad is I've seen (i think it was a Bigfoot Decoys) advertisement with him and his little boy picking up decoys. The advertisement made you think "That's nice.. A father teaching his son, sharing time with his son, and loving his son enough to include him. I've always thought that Foiles was a shady character. Seeing him in the advertisement with his son made him appear in a different light, though. What a disappointment!! I feel sorry for his little boy.
Be where they want to be..

I am not taking up for him, but I can see if you have 25 people hunting at a time that there might be a problem with keeping up with limits. I mean if you lack three ducks and 10 guys are shooting and 30 come in and you kill 4 or five, yeah I can see it. The falsifying records and the "parking" I can not comprehend why he would do it.
Usually when the feds come in they already have the goods on you. We will have to wait and see how it comes out.

I don't care how many you have hunting, keeping up with limits isn't difficult unless you're in kindergarten. If you only need 3 ducks, 10 guys shouldn't be shooting. And it's not that he had 10 guys shooting, he had 3 or 4 on film and shot over to get more film footage.

Word. That gang banging has gotten more than one hunter in trouble.arduckslayer wrote:I don't care how many you have hunting, keeping up with limits isn't difficult unless you're in kindergarten. Maybe my reading comp skills suck but can't see where anyone truly answered DDM's question. I understand that because their case is so extensive and proved so much they should be able to put him away for good when a ticket here or there would have been a slap on the wrist. What if just half the current game charges were brought? He'd still be looking at a felony, right? The question tho was is it not the duty of the Fed Warden and state GW's to prevent the illegal killing or even harrassing of game and when is it ok to allow illegal killing in order to build a larger case?deltadukman wrote:Friend of mine brought up a good point on this today:
The job of a Federal Warden is to protect wildlife and prosecute those who break the rules. This investigation has been going on for a great amount of time, and they (more than likely knew what he was doing) for that time. At what point do they say enough is enough to bring the thunder? How many times over the limit or what not does it take? How many times does an over the limit duck massacre have to take place before he is called out on it. Why not get him the first time and teach the dude a lesson?
Disclaimer: I am in no way shape form or fasion bashing the officers, nor I am endorsing this douche bag.

Probably trying to get as many fish in the net as possible. I'm sure there is a protocol for this type of thing. Think of it as a drug bust. Do you want to just pop the guy on the corner selling dime bags, or do you want to investigate long enough to get a dozen corner guys and the supplier as well?farmerc83 wrote:Maybe my reading comp skills suck but can't see where anyone truly answered DDM's question. Doesn't matter if he owns the land or not. A felon can't possess or be near a firearm.
dukluk wrote:Wingman[
Okay, but muzzleloaders evidentally don't count as firearms....firearms can't be sold thru catalogs, etc., but muzzleloaders can....so, my question is, can a felon hunt with a muzzleloader???....if so, and if I was a felon, I'd just sell the rifles, and invest in 35 Whelens and 45-70's, and top each one with some jam-up Leupold scopes....they're dang near as accurate as Rem. 700's out to 200 yards.
Muzzeloaders are considered firearms. A convicted felon may only hunt with a traditional bow or crossbow

I doubt this will be relivant looking at the numerous charges they will likely revoke his hunting privledges.

I suspect the additional efforts were taken in order to use as leverage to get him to plea out instead of rolling the dice....
Besides, what would you rather do, hunt all day on the taxpayers dime or sit in a stakeout in some crappy hotel room on a drug sting?
