This is my take on the described situation.....
The birds are in the back of a truck - where's the hunter (or hunters)? Warden has no way of knowing how many hunters shot said number of birds in the truck.
I interpret the law as - the guy that shot the birds needs to at least be near enough the birds that there's no question. The fact that whoever shot the birds went scouting and left the birds in the truck while doing so means (technically) that nobody is in possession of the birds 'cause they've left them and gone somewhere else. How is a CO supposed to know hunters didn't go try to shoot some more birds, hide'em in a log and come-back later (hypothetically) if nobody's at the landing when they come-out. Not saying that's what happened here, but it could happen.
There's a similar tagging reg in Canada - if the birds are not in your immediate possession, they must be tagged with specific information on them.

I don't care if two people ride the atv.
Like if we had 2 limits or more then 1 persons limit to kill.
What???

I was meaning 2 of us on the ATV. Both limits on the ATV also needing to be seperated correct like in the blind. Not together. Or if im coming out and have both limits by myself or more then 1 persons limit they still need to be seperate and tagged with whos birds they are.
Like if we had 2 limits or more then 1 persons limit to kill.
What???
Like instead of having 12 ducks I have 8 with ours combined.
This I confussed myseld also on this a little more then anyone else.
Reason I ask is its a long ride back to the vehicles and usually takes 2 trips with equipment and another person. Didnt want to go ahead and take the birds out by myself and leave them at the truck then go back and get the other person and more stuff.
Guess im the only idiot with these type questions

individual has to keep his/her birds in their possession till they reach individuals primary means of transportation(truck/car). At which point if multiple hunters are riding together birds must still be kept separate as which each hunter can identify his/her birds(keep on stringer with initials/cable tie birds together around neck with tag).
Invest in bird stringer and use silver marker to write name/initials or get ticket! Keep birds on stringer till you get home. Simple enough!

Actually, you need species, date shot, number of species and some other info. Best to use the prepared tags on Getducks.

Its really really simple folks. Know the limits, shoot your ducks, keep your limit with you, if you leave your ducks put a tag on em. Get a license, stamps, non toxic shot, and a plug. Yall could come up with 100 questions on how to take a $#!+ I believe. Like a room full of women

I only wish it was that simple! there's a hundred other things that "if the game warden feels like it" he can write you a ticket for

I was trying to make a point...but things like not signing the back of your licenses, not having your license on your person (along with a photo ID), having your gun in a case while in a moving boat or vehicle on wma's, etc...etc. The list could go on and on. All of these things are against the law, but I have been let go on some of these very same things by some game wardens....while others get ticketed. Im just stating that the GW has to have discretion when it comes to some of these laws...if there is no harm, then no foul kinda thing. Only other way around this is to write a ticket to EVERY violater.

I've been checked by GW's a lot of times with birds in the boat or on the 4 wheeler with no tags anywhere.
(never even brought a tag hunting with me in 20 years of hunting them)
I have never had not one GW say anything what so ever about having birds tagged
or seperated. I think someone on here said it before, if the guy wants to write a ticket, hes gonna find something to write
one about. Either you can fight it, or go pay the ticket. End of story. Piss him off by fighting it, and he'll write you another
one next time he sees you. JUST cause he can. My $0.02 to ya brother is just go pay the ticket and chalk it up to experience.
