The way to keep the grass cut the best around the pond is get a hay disc mower or an old sickle mower that way its sticks out beyond the tractor and gets close to the water.

I like the last drawing as well, if I were to ad anything it would be an additional point on the top bank making it longer or shorter than the other point there. This would give you the ability to do a by the point over the point concept very easily or move an get a double entry. If you made the second point big enough to drive a truck out onto and park then you would increase the ability to work that long shore line from multiple directions and still have the , on again or by principal. Also It would cut down on cost to build.

From Marty's suggestion...... Below are some blind routes to see how usable the pond is. Seems a bit limited in highly technical blinds.....maybe not?

Simple blinds with young dogs.....

Late transition and finished type blinds.......

Advanced Master level type blinds.....

Just my thoughts on this, but then again I have never built a tech pond. Unless you are going to be training a lot of young dogs, I would go for more involved tech water. There is no shortage of ponds in the area to train young dogs on, but there is a shortage of true tech water in the central MS area.

I'm somewhat limited to what I can do because of the way the land is. But, I can cut in another cove and make them bigger like below...... Personally, I'm liking this one....

Good modification to the swimby pond. Easier to teach on that one and looks good with the rest of the water

One other thing I want to mention, if possible I would let some of the trees stay in the lake possible in a corner or one end. As they die out you would get natural fall downs and have a natural stick pond. Especially if you selected which trees to leave where. I would also leave some of the trees around the pond or off of it to retire or hide gunners with. I stripped my tech pond when I built it and regret not leaving trees in one corner to simulate a timber hole as well as a few trees around the lake. You can always cut them down later if you decide you don't like them.

I feckin' HATE dealing with Entergy. Put an order in last Wed. for someone to come out to see about moving some power lines. So, they tell me the earliest was today. Man finally shows up about 20 minutes ago........it was a service man. He said I needed engineering........NO $#!+. He was nice, and called the Engineer for Flora, he's going on vacation for two weeks........So, now I have to call the 800 number again, and go thru all this $#!+ again.......
I bet when I drop one of these trees on the main line it will get some arses out here quick!!
