Straight from the Old timers mouth---- It was a 17 degree Jan. 1st day. He sectioned the ice with a hatchet and killed 75 greenheads.

You shoot ducks off the top of the water rather than in flight.

you know skillet shooting used to be the preferred method of hunting. Ask some old timers (I'm talking someone 80+). I guarentee that he used to hunt that way. Let all the ducks land, line them up and pull the trigger. I have heard stories from credible sources of 100 mallard days back in the 50's (1 person, all greenheads).

Back in Mr. Jimmy's day a topwater was a guy that got a call from him, and came by every afternoon for a month, blowing his new found call and thought his calling was getting better. Mr. Jimmy used to say " Ducks make all kinds of sounds"

Well, there was a little fog this morning.........and we heard shots from some other groups.......but didn't actually see anybody else. We HAVE seen cases (over the years) of the two conditions, cited. Spotlights in the fog just kills me.

i know why most folks claim topwater with the poo face(face paint) i just hate a face mask, i been blacking my face since i started duck hunting in the early 80's, and i still keep my face down and watch the water didn't take me but a few times getting my head slapped to learn to keep your face down, guess i'll always be a topwater if the face paint is an automatic in :D

I may be wrong but I thought a Topwater was defined as someone who tries to give the appearance of a duck hunter on the surface but underneath they really don't know what they are doing.

So far I meet 3 requirements:
Wood duck call
Ringtone
Occasional face paint

I recently switched rides so I don't have my new stickers yet. Does it count as being "Topwater" if your stickers are of products produced by a friend or you are a member of the prostaff? I do intend to have a "Shoveler Slayer" and "BDDC: sticker the first chance I get. They will be displayed together.
