Well this just f'd up my whole plan about getting a longtail motor for my 16 and a half foot boat. I was planning on getting a used 35hp for it because its a very wide boat and with people and all the "necessary" stuff we have to have to hunt a 25hp wont budge that dude. :D And I sure aint going buy another boat that is smaller just so I can get a 25hp longtail to be able to hunt. I cant understand how they can generalize it to just 25hp with mudmotors. Because a guy with a 14 ft and a 25hp can go alot faster than me and my 16.5 footer with a 25hp.

I know what they need to do.......instead of them using a gamewarden holding everyone back till 5am he should be out there with a radar gun and be waiting at the ramp with tickets to whoever broke the "speed limit".

Now instead of everyone being just bunched up at the ramp we are going to be bunched up all the way to the holes. This is just going to cause more arguments at the individual holes if two groups want to go to the same hole, because we all are going to be going the same speed.

I don't know why but this just really rubs me raw. :( :(

I talked to one rules and regs guys with MDWF&P and there will be a rule change on ALL WMA's next season that will limit outboards/mudmotors to 25hp or less. The reason being there is a saftey problem with the faster motor because people are racing to claim certain holes. The MDWF&P is worried about being sued if a serious injury occurred due to this mindless racing. All I can say is enjoy it this season because next season everyone will have to conform to the new 25hp motor rule.

Lots of WMA's in other states are doing this very same thing. What it doesnt stop is people taking the 23-25's and modding them out and believe it or not it happens all the time. I know for a fact of several guys down here in FL that have 23's and after adding carbs exhaust ect... they are pushing 30ish HP.

Bottom line, there will be races, there will be people shooting to flare your ducks, there will be rules we don't agree with....there is no perfect solution to hunting public land. Period. All of the arguing is going to lead to another deal like mahanah...wich only increased hunting on the other public spots.... :?

The thing I am amazed at is there have been no killings over this stuff.....

I think the state needs to take the draw system and throw it out the window. All this does is make other wma full of yahoos. If the state knew what they were doing or had someone running this crap that hunted instead of sitting in the office in Jackson with his feet on the desk. This draw is the worst thing for us. Take the time rule and throw it right beside the damn draw rule. Ms duck hunting on public land has gone to hell with the damn MDWFP making up s_h_i_t they should ask the hunters what they want instead of just doing it..... :x

The problem with a 25hp max.... Instead of some people jumping out ahead now everone will be in a big wad racing to the hole. Doesn't that seem even more dangerous!?!?!?! Just lift the 5 am rule and there wouldn't be a problem with racing.

The 5 a.m. rule is a bunch of horse p1ss. We hunt at another wma in northern MS where there is no time rule. We beat everyone else there, and the people who are willing to put out the effort should be rewarded. If it was easy everybody would be doing it.
So now the MDWFP, Mr. Fix-all, is wanting to change it to a draw hunt or limit the motor size?? How is changing the motor size going to benefit anyone? I have a 27 longtail....and now I can't even use the darn thing. I hunted with DanielB and rbh, and we all had the pleasure of a nice morning shower from the pro-drives passing us...not to mention the 3ft waves coming in our boat. With all that said, if the 5 a.m rule was not in place, we would have been in the hole at 1 p.m. the day before and avoided all the boat swamping, rooster tail spraying, 20mph driving pro-drives waving as they went by.

I guess I need a face now...

all i know is that yes i have a 36hp prodrive...it will fly...it throws a rooster tail about 25 feet when full speed...there is nothing like the feeling of running 25mph through trees that are inches from your boat and outrunning somebody trying to get to the hole you want...i am working 3 jobs to pay for the rig that i have so i don't want to hear the rich boy talk...but if you happen to be in front or behind me at 5 o'clock at the scatters be prepared to get wet and be hunting somewhere else...

Dude you come by me spraying water and such and I WILL FOLLOW your ASH wherever you go. It will Not Be pretty. . You better watch that crap or those three jobs will be paying for something that has a hole in it. Same thing happened south of town last year, some Yaho goes flying by all the local boys cutting them off and such, Doing all kinds of Dangerous crap and Beat everybody back to where HE THOUHT he was going to hunt. Well when the "Discussion " was over ole boay did the wise thing tucked his tail and went on his way. I honestly cant believe they let him leave in one piece. Keep that high and mighty attitude up and I promise, at the scatters, you WILL find somebody to lower it for you.

Xpress ,I dont care if have built a cabin surrounding the fugin A WOOD sign you come around me close enough to be spraying water on me and my boat and WE HAVE ISSUES(THEY WILL BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATLY). There are plenty more people that hunt there and have been much longer than any pidlin 11 years that feel the same. I dont care what you say if you are that close its freakin DANGEROUS!

Well xpress, seems to be more people upset about your 36hp prodrive than happy about it. It's cool that you have it, and that it gets you goin when you see that montrous rooster tail, but what's not cool is that you know about that rooster tail and don't care that you are soaking everyone around you. I may be totally wrong. You may not be that guy who drenches everyone around, but by your previous posts and the vibe that you give off, I think I might be on to something.
