The Echo calls are very easy to blow, especially the timber calls, reason I'm leaning towards getting those more so than the open water model. With less calling experience, I would recommend getting a wood call for the simple fact that it has more of a raspy, bottom end out of the box than an acrylic does. Acrylics have a more crisp, clearer tone than woods. However, I prefer acrylics for the simple fact that I don't have to worry about the insert locking up in the barrel, which happens alot with wood calls due to moisture, swelling, etc....and because the tone never changes with the acrylic, unlike the wood does as time passes. I believe there are a few guys that are buying an echo that have little experience blowing acrylics, as well as single reeds.
