I don't see your d stopping the run game, which will in turn open up the passing game. I don't think McCarron is going to set any records, but I suspect he will do ok. I see State giving BAMA a good game, but BAMA comes out on top in the end.

MSU will have a difficult time putting points on the board against that Tide Defense. MSU has previously struggled to score points against defenses that don't even come close to the Tide's level. The MSU offense seems to be geared around waiting for the defense to create a turnover and short field, and then try to take advantage.

Alabama does not turn over the ball much, as McCarron tends to make good decisions --- even under pressure. This does not bode well for the MSU offense --- see above. Of course, the Tide offense does pretty much the same thing --- waits for the other team to make a mistake, then pounce on it for points.

For these reasons, I predict that this game will be pretty close on the scoreboard in the first half, with each team playing very conservative and feeling their way forward, each waiting for the other to make a critical mistake. In the second half, I think that Alabama's superior depth, halftime adjustments, and homefield advantage will allow them to pull away from MSU, perhaps enough to cover the spread. the Tide running game will open up more in the second half, and that in turn will open up the passing game. And as the Tide pulls away, Mullen will then be forced to gamble on offense, and the Tide will create some turnovers, sealing the game. That seems to be the most likely scenario.

The only way that MSU has a chance to win this game is for MSU to score early in the game -- to take the Tide out of their comfort zone and gameplan -- the Tide has only played from behind for about 15 seconds this season (and that was against the Rebels). And the only way MSU can score early in the game to take a lead is if Mullen gambles some in the first half, which comes with the risk of the Tide blowing the game open early. I think it is against Mullen's nature to do so. I think he will opt for the strategy to keep it close to give MSU a chance to win it in the second half. Mullen's "gamble" will be that his MSU D can create some turnovers in the second half that MSU can turn into points. But, by doing so, he will likely play right into the hands of the Tide.
