My refrence to "tree huggers" is a generalized degratory remark to people that are so fanitic in their beliefs that will "hug a tree to stand between it and a chainsaw".

No one ever saved a forest by physical force. Now I do realize that the people I am refering to are not complaining about us cutting down trees. It is just a generalized slanderous statement. I admit.

Before you start, I kow I can't spell. No spell check on this computer.

Take a look around the site if you want a good understanding of what hunters and conservation are all about. You will find most of the posts to be very informative, mostly related to conservation and companionship. Of course there are a few posts here and there that relate to things way off subject and a few argumentative posts, but for the most part they are about remembering the good times that have come our way and efforts to keep wildlife abundant and prosperous. I have tried to expain the hunter's role in conservation and wildlife management to many anti-hunting people with a closed mind too many times, resulting in the same hard-headed response to think that this time will be any different. I always get the same response: "let nature take its course". My response to that is that hunting is a part of nature, people have been hunting since the dawn of time, we are allowing nature to take its course. Humans are natural predators of many things, just like any other predatorial creature.

If you want to know what drives someone to hunt, that's where it gets pretty complicated. For most of us it is a way of life, a product of our up-bringing and a love of anything outdoors. It is something most of us were taught from someone we look up to and respect, and a way of life. Photos of a hunt are hardly ever about just what you happened to be lucky enough to bring out of the woods that day, they are a way to remember good times with friends and to share your experiences with others.

If you want a real explanation, take a look at some of the posts reflecting back on memories "from the field", this is a good one: http://www.ducksouth.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9870.

Most animal rights activists see hunters as nothing more than barbaric people who like to go out and "kill" whatever crosses their path just to "get their rocks off". If you actually listen to what hunters have to say and pay attention to their actions you will find that this is hardly ever the case.

Thanx.
Like i said, im open minded.
I guess some of you probably thought "oh no, another nutter having a go" but im not like that. I was genuinely interested.
I still dont think its funny to have a go at the animal rights people, but ill be sticking up for you in their forums too, now that i know what you do to help conservation.
And no, Im not veggie, and yes, i do wear leather. Actually hunting(for food) is more natural than farming, and ive already raised that point on a vegan forum, much to their annoyance. I still dont agree with hunting solely for sport (or fox hunting with hounds) but shooting them for food and conservation is alright with me.
Thankyou for not just immediately having a go (unlike those vegans) and sorry for the lack of profile - dont really know what im doing to be honest.
Oh and someone said i must think the world is sugar coated? I know its not, thats why i'm talking to all sides and getting all the facts. Ive learned alot.

Hey, try not to slam me, I'm trying to see the sense.
