purging crawfish is simply running freshwater through them. You do this somewhat when you "rinse" them in a tub, but unless you rinse, drain, rinse, drain, so on until the water drains clear, your only washing the outside of them.


Most crawfish farms or places that boil crawfish have a long channel that they put the crawfish in. Then they let freshwater run through it. When you purge, your not just cleaning out the vein, your cleaning the gills and their shells too.
