Old Charter is OK, just not that great.
Get you a bottle of The Glenlivet, or any quality SINGLE MALT,15 year or older, neat or rocks. It ain't cheap, but you don't chug it either. Sip it, and enjoy!
Some folks poo-poo the Scotch, but only because they've tried the blended junk at the bar. Once you've had some good stuff, you'll think twice about going back to another whiskey.
here, here....a man of my own tastes! ice makes water
*oban, balvenie, macallan, dalwhinnie, dalmore....
You just dropped some serious cash Daddy Warbucks!!!
If i'm buying its macallan or a Glen..............i have tried the others and like but that's when someone else is paying.
Sorta like ol John Wayne said in one of his movies. Peaches a dollar tha can? Can't help it! Got hooked on em when i was a yonker.

with all the "hard core" bourbon drinkers I can't believe no one has mentioned Blantons
Basil Haydens is my fav of the small batch bourbons, suprisingly I dont care for the others, like Bakers, Bookers or Knob Creek..never cared for Woodford either
Makers has become my staple...used to be old charger, but I almost always have some Makers on hand
Old Charter never did any harm IMO and is as fine a drink with a splash of water as the next
One my step dad turned me on to is Ezra Brooks...also useful when you need to be thrifty
also enjoy the seasonal gin and tonic as well as a scotch from time to time
guess Ive drank just about all of em at one time or another though and they all had there place

Has anyone ever tried Tullamore Dew? It's an Irish sippin whiskey. Very smooth. Charter and Coke is my favorite hunting camp and college football game drink.

Yep...good stuff!!!
As for the fellow scotch drinkers...I like my scotch to be able to vote, and love it to be able to drink itself....
Balvenie portwood 21 yr, The Macallan 18yr, and Glenlivet 18yr are my standards from most special occasion to everyday whiskey....one cube of ice in the summer please, or neat in the winter....

the parents did the Kentucky Bourbon trail this fall. Paid like $10 and got to visit 4 or 5 distilleries. Very impressed. Thankfully spent a good bit more than $10 brining back samples......or boxes of samples rather.

Bud Light, Budweiser, Shiner, DosEquis. 108 rare breed turkey for medicidal purposes only, unless the wife
gets sneaky and makes her a drink. I can't do bourbon or whiskey or much of any liquor for that matter. It's not good for me.
So I stick to beer.

Using old bourbon casks saves Scottish distillers a step, there is no part of scotch made from the "spoils" of bourbon.... Scotch has been around before any white man set foot in the place we now call Kentucky.

they don't run dry as quickly as they used to, so it doesn't hurt as bad - those be sippin' scotches

if i know i'm liable to really put a hurtin' on a bottle, i'm generally getting dimple pinch or splitting one of the afore mentioned with another scotchie in supper club...
