I'm too lazy to go back and read through all of this and the other related threads, but I picked up in there somewhere that the freezer check didn't apply to your residence, but could be enforced at your camp.
Seem's like the warden even told Mallardchaser that if "he were at home, it'd be different". It makes sense, because otherwise, on the last day of the season you would only be able to have 12 ducks in your freezer to last the rest of the year. Also the transportation rules of leaving a head or wing on don't apply any more when you put the birds in your home freezer.
Of course, if the home exemption is true, then that leaves the door wide open to double-dippers who can get their birds home and into the freezer. That's where your code of ethics should kick in not to go out and kill another limit that day.

Duckwarden or SB: Are we correct that the possesion limit applies to our home freezers?
If so, can you have a "possession limit" in the freezer for you, plus the wife and kids if the ducks are labeled as to the liscence # and person that killed them?
Would they need to have a valid liscence and stamps, or could you "gift" ducks to them?
I am not remotely trying to break any laws, or get around them, I am just trying to figure this out?

If you receive mail where the freezer is located, then the possession limit does not apply, since it is considered to be a residence. We receive mail at our clubhouse so we can legally have over the possession limit in our freezer. If I am wrong please correct me.

GC, I have worked with several Fed Wardens and all have said that it does apply to your frezzer but that they would never check someones unless they suspected some type of wrong doing. I don't see how that would hurt to have your ducks in your frezzer labled. GH22 bud you are wrong about a residence being exempt. All you have to do is simply follow the law and lable your ducks. SIMPLE. Later Baldpate

A mailbox only makes the exception as far as if its a residence for the sake of searching it, and to the extent your permission or a warrent is needed. Until final place of consumption (i.e. yur house) a bird needs to be tagged, and a wing/head left on. Commerical duck pickers tag every bird left when them, and document whut species when they check them in.
Acornman, yur data is old brother. 21st centery here, market gunning and over harvest was da past, the new problems facing ducks are obviously habitat loss and predators (the predators losing habitat too!). Same old problems of rain makes ducks, or no rain means few ducks will always be here. A few inches of snowfall, and the right timed rain, grows(& saves) more ducks than sport hunting kills. Our limits and seasons are set basically because we can't control that rain. travis

in your home freezer you can gift your birds to others living in the home.i.e. wife, child, even if they don't have a license. So the first 12 birds you put in your freezer can be gifted to one person. But, you can only gift to a person at their residence.
If you want ot gift to your grandmother, you have to take the birds to her at her house.

OK, law says that you must have a fully attached wing to any migratory bird while traveling. But the law also says that you can have processed meat, such as ground up duck breasts used for sausage or etc.
