gator.... you's about a dumb !@#.. oh wait the ivory billed was extinct.. nope just found it again. the panther is still here. i have never seen one but my dad saw one in plain few in the middle of the day trot across the road. my grand dad has lived in isola his whole life and seen panthers before.

Panthers (aka Cougars) were native to the American Southeast. They just haven't "officially" been here for a long time.

If I'm not mistaken, the last one "officially" killed here in Mississippi was in the nineteen-teens.

By the way, if you decide to ground check one, and then go spouting off to the world, get ready to spend into the five figures for the fine and possibly some jail time. Even though they are not "officially" here, they are officially considered an endangered species if they are here.

I saw a whole bunch of them there black panthers about a month ago. Their ruttn, breeding season must start a little early down in Jena, La.

What I want to know, is how you went from a "god aweful noise", to saying that is was a "panther", and a black one at that! There are all kinds of animals that make all kinds of noises. There IS no such thing as a black cougar. The typical noise a cougar makes is the screaching growl that is used as a sound effect in a million different things (movies, songs, etc...). A jaguar, that do (very rarely) occur with black coats, make a very low roar (closer to an african lion).
