Lardy ran his own dogs. The guy you saw running them was the dude in the videos without the mustache.

Just my 2 cents on the open land series. I was on the line all day Friday and gunned the first two hours on Saturday. After the test dog ran on Friday the 4th bird was added that changed the makeup of the test completely. It was not that difficult to determine if a dog knew where a mark was. It was an entertaining test to watch.

A 101 dog open is not for the faint of heart. The judges have to set something up to make a deep cut. In this case they ultimately chose a quad with three retired. It takes a very special sort of dog that will mark the area of fall for those three retired birds and stick with the hunt. Yes, some very good dogs did not make it, but set up another quad somewhere else and these same dogs might pound the test.

I watched Mike pretty close close as he set up and ran dogs. Some dogs went for the out of order flyer first and some went for the last bird. What was the deciding factor? The dog. I never saw Mike pull a dog off of the go bird and primary select the flyer. And guess what, neither did any other pro that was up there.

The wind change on Saturday morning made the test much easier to do, but that is what happens sometimes with a big field of dogs. I thought there was some pretty heady dog work on Friday.

Dog 82, was one of the last ones I watched. Lardy dog. Nafc, afc. Hung around just to watch this dog run. He dissed the go go bird and went straight for the flyer. Lardy jokingly pointed his had in the direction of the flyer afterwards. The dog blew up after that.

Dog selection did not seem to be working well in this test, whether intentional or not.

I don't know that the dog screwed it up or not. The judges must have decided he established a hunt on the short retired as the dog went for the long retired. I don't know if he did or not but the judges had him pick up the dog after he returned with the long bird. I would have liked to see if he knew where the other 2 were though. I assume you're talking about the same dog.

I am wit ya DIB those concepts can be more than the eye can see. Just like when someone comes with ya to their first HT and laughs at started. You know it looks rediculously easy, but you add the factor of the pee brain sitting beside and you never know what he feels like doing on this mark. Wished I could have made it up.

Where ya'll worried about this said ice at? The only ice I get down here is in the freezer or from the store. Think you ought to worry more about a big ice breaking dog over heating down here. (in December)
