Orangejello and Lemonjello

My wifes first teaching job was at a, let's say a not-so-good-area...

I can remember the sadness. For her Christmas party there was no parental involvment so she called me and I left work, stopped by the store and picked up some drinks, cookies, and little things for the kids so that they could have a party...

One stood out.
Mercedes but pronounced "Merk-a-dees".

Maybe a touch off subject, but my sister in law was telling me a story the other day. She said her K5 group was having to use the word WE in a sentence. A little boy stood up and said, " My mommy and daddy smoke weed." She just said she tried not to laugh and moved on to the next un. He was close, but no cigar. Bad thing is the she has taught four of the dads chillren and none had the same mom and two were in the same grade.

My sister in law taught at Anguilla elementary back in the late 80's. One little boy came to school saying his daddy had been shot. Then another little boy started saying his daddy had been shot too. Come to find out they had the same daddy and didn't even know it :shock:

Back to the names, she was calling role and had a Jonathan and Roderick. She pronounced them the way most white people would. The kids informed her that my name not be Jonathan, it be Jo Nathan and my name not be Roderick, it be Ro Derick

those names just keep getting more unbelievable.

As far as the teachers go, we never see all the acts of compassion they perform daily to brighten the lives of some of these children, who never have a chance from the start because their parents think somebody owes them something or don't really care about them or want them

You are right I work at an alternate school.. The only reason that the parents send them school is to get a CHECK... And to get them out of their hair so they can smoke crack or just crack...

Ok, I have got to let yall know that Texas has it's fair share of those names. Let's see, LaSonitha, Daqari (not pronounced like the drink, but Da-caree) Shaniqua, Adonis,just for a few off the top of my head.

When I was in high school in the 80's ---a friend and I used to look in the Jackson phone book and find the wierdest names we could, and call them up and play jokes on them.

One of the names we found was "$#!+ Jones" - I swear it was in there!!

I called him up and he answered - I asked who was speaking and he said "Shi thead" I said, "Oh I'm sorry sir, we were looking for "$#!+ Head Jones, he won the publisher's clearing house sweepstakes, and we wanted to confirm his address."

At this point there was a lot of comotion on the other end of the phone, sounded like quite a celebration, and then he gave me his address.......

krystal drive-thru in greenwood had a 'meatbelle' working the window one day

my wife works for the ms dept of health...runs a childrens program...she can pronounce those names....

i like noxzema, placenta, and pajama

I went to school with Unfelario Feliciano Robinson (I think I spelled it right). The name he went by....Tony. The first day of first grade the teacher called him up to her desk with a list of "normal names" and told to pick one. She told him Unfelario was to much to say. He picked Tony.

here is one that I love. one of my young patients' name is Veneria. Prob named after whatever STD the mama had. I also have one named LaCreama. One of my deceased patients' first name was Raspberry. I got most of the cars covered too: Porsha, Mercedes, Lexus, and finally got me a Kia last year!
