ok, I'm retarded. Mottled's are Gulf Coast ducks and Florida ducks. Still, the speculum and bill look like every black duck I've killed or kilt at you guys say. Also, Ohio is pronounced "Hia".

Thanks. I had a USMC buddy who said he was from "ohigher" that is why I asked.

Killed a mottled duck yesterday in timber and thought I had a myself a black! Dang! The Mottled is lighter in color with the drake having more "streaking" on his chin and the hen has black spots on her bill w/orange to bright orange legs.
