I certainly dont know the specifics or if that was the case, BUT I DO KNOW, that LA officials were mad enough to spit nails when MS marine patrol started writing LA citizens tickets for catching a LEGAL species in LEGAL LA waters.

I have not seen this with my own eyes but have been told by many, that the US Coast Guard was also enforcing NOAA and federal fishing regs as well. So your volunteering from the coast guard to MS marine patrol, would in fact be the same thing in most LA residents eyes.

they werent just a little upset about it either. I mean full on pissed off!!!

OK. I'll give you that point as this thread has gone on for days and I forgot he showed them a military I.D. Still, your point of a GW being pizzed off at a CG active duty because of some fishing dispute is a stretch. Don't ya think?

I've followed this tread and have not said a word up until now. After reading this statement how can you even question the ticket? Who on earth knows that all you may ever shoot is 3" shells? Who on earth knows that you may have had 3" shells to give to the GW, but very well may hunt with 2-3/4" just to get the extra shell. I am not saying that is exactly what you do, but I am saying that is exactly why the GW had 2-3/4" shells in their pocket to check. A GW don't know that you always hunt with 3" shells. Suppose your box of 3" shells fell off the side of the boat or in the water and your buddy hunts with 2-3/4" shells would you not hunt? I highly doubt that you would just sit in the blind. IF you were to hunt, you just became illegal as you can now house 4 shells in the shotgun. Seems to be a hard lesson learned and quite frankly, it was a lesson for both sides. Maybe the GW that first checked you was inexperienced and the other guy had more experience and knew what to check. Just like every LEO cannot believe every story they are told. So many people try to buffalo them, and they are only trying to do their jobs.

As far the whole "active duty", do you expect special treatment? I'm getting that because of you mentioning that you are active duty. Truthfully, if you didn't expect special treatment, then you wouldn't have thrown out that bit of information out for everyone to read.

Neither he nor his buddy had any 2 3/4" shells on them and they had no reason to suspect otherwise. If you still say that's an illegal gun, fine. But don't claim he deserved the ticket because of this:
MudHog wrote:Who on earth knows that all you may ever shoot is 3" shells?
If that was the case, why not write me a ticket for hunting squirrels with an un-plugged shotgun because "who knows, I may have used it the previous weekend for doves?" You write the ticket based on what exists in the present situation, not based on woulda coulda shoulda.
