Always be leary of the very early commitments....they are the ones who usually back out or change their mind.

Re: ole miss recruting- chris jones
Here is the whole problem with the Class the Rebels are signing.......you go 4-8, 2-10, then 6-6........I know you guys are very proud of your school and think it is the place to be. I lived in Oxford for 16 years (as a Bulldog) and LOVED it..........but you don't go from 3 crappy seasons to signing one of the top classes in the country unless you are Alabama or.....well....you know. I have friends all over the country asking WTF? You should have signed a pretty good class this year and saved to progression up until next year........hope you covered your tracks.

Hey stitch.... Your an idiot... Easiest way I know to put it
Re: ole miss recruting- chris jones
last i checked with the exception of last year we've had a top 20 class as far as i can remember.... hugh chose not sign all of his spots last year becuase of coming in late and not wanting to take chances on kids he didn't know...
the problem has never been recruiting so to speak... it's getting these thug ass cheeseburgers enrolled in school... last year was the first year that i can remember that we enrolled almost every kid that was signed...

yep we should've told the #1 recruit in the country to go somewhere else instead of here with his brother where his parents want him...or told him if he did not to try and convince any other guys to come to Ole Miss and play with him and the coaches weren't gonna take any of those guys either...that way all the State fans wouldn't think we cheated and benefited from the obvious windfall of fortune we have been experiencing...that would be too obvious....stitch wrote:Here is the whole problem with the Class the Rebels are signing.......you go 4-8, 2-10, then 6-6........I know you guys are very proud of your school and think it is the place to be. Re: ole miss recruting- chris jones
not to mention we should've told anthony sandifer to not recruit his best friend/#1 receiver in the country to come play ball with him in college...

Re: ole miss recruting- chris jones
Lets keep all of this recruiting in perspective folks. EVEN IF (big if here) the Rebels do wind up with a top 10 nationally ranked recruiting class after the hay is in the barn, that will still likely just put us 3rd or 4th in the SEC West Division --- and middle of the pack in the overall SEC (most likely behind Alabama, Florida, UGA, TAM, LSU, Auburn, and USC).
We would have to have a top 5 class to finish higher than most of those listed SEC schools. I seriously doubt that such is going to happen.
My point here is that even if we have a so-called banner recruiting year, it will only be enough to hopefully keep us competitive within the SEC. These other schools have those types of recruiting years almost every year. So, no matter what, we will still have to outplay, outscheme, outwork, outcoach, and outsmart the opposition in order to have a chance to win more than we lose in the SEC. We won't "out-talent" many SEC teams.
And to those throwing around the baseless "cheating" inferences or allegations, I call bullcaca. Prove it. Like I've said, we've all read this type of crap here before --- over and over again --- and nothing ever comes of it. It just ain't worth discussing.
IMO, I have always thought that it should be easy to recruit to Ole Miss with many of the great things we have going for us (traditions, Grove, gameday atmosphere, beautiful campus, beautiful women, downtown Oxford, highly rated academics, etc.). Just get the recruits to visit our campus/Oxford when the students are there, and let that experience sell itself. Some of our past coaches were just lazy recruiters who used the "little ole Miss" excuse as cover. Also, right now we not only have a head coach who knows how to recruit, has charisma, and can pitch a chance at early playing time, but also one who seems to be a pretty good game day x and o coach as well. The new offense under Freeze is exciting to watch for the fans, and exciting for the players. The defense plays with great passion, with the players flying around making plays and appearing to be having a lot of fun. The Rebels improved during the season and ended the season with great momentum. There is some positive mojo going on right now ---what a difference a year makes. Throw in the Nkemdiche factor, and all of this adds up to a potentially better than normal recruiting class (we have had several top 15-25 nationally ranked classes over the past 10 years). The argument that there must be something illegal going on simply because we may sign a couple of more higher rated players than we usually do sounds like sour grapes.

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

Everybody "gets" the number 1 recruit in the country, it's the remainder of the high profile recruits that you can't "explain".....but hey, I'm an idiot and know nothing about recruiting, so why listen to me? I'm just a bitter Bulldog. I don't know or care what your qualifications are....but if you want to be taken seriously don't imply that Ole Miss coaches should not sign best class they can this year since they haven't been winning the last 3 for fear of their rivals might assume they are cheating...that's plum retarded...sorry, just a spade..not offense intended personallystitch wrote:Everybody "gets" the number 1 recruit in the country, it's the remainder of the high profile recruits that you can't "explain".....but hey, I'm an idiot and know nothing about recruiting, so why listen to me? Re: ole miss recruting- chris jones
Nobody stated you didn't know anything about recruiting, for all I know you know more than everybody on this board, but to say Rebs are obviously cheating to be able to pull these kids here just based on the fact that we had pitiful seasons over the past few years is idiotic..... Are we to assume on the other hand that your coach, alumni, and recruiting staff are doing a piss poor job because y'all have had decent seasons the past few years and no top 10 recruiting class to show for it?....or do we just assume ole Dan is squeeky clean?

To imply that Stitch was saying dont sign the class because of fears that someone assumes you are cheating is plum retarded. He said nothing of the such. Dang you Rebs love to spin things. Stitch said it is very strang to sign the sort of class UM has going...no, not the one or two recruits with ties, but the entire class. He is saying Freeze better watch out if something is not on the up and up. If things ARE on the straight and narrow, then of course Freeze should sign them all!!! You are stretching a statement into something else.
Po Monk, a lot of that above is true. You have to have that first real good class if you want to string several great classes together that really boost a program for the long haul. Even this one great class will just be a bump unless there is another good/great class behind it in 2014 and 2015. That is the key to joining LSu and Bama year in and year out. Good points.
