Now that they have this guys face all over the news they are only showing his picture with that wild eyed crazy look. We know this guy is a
very sick individual, but how many of you actually think he is "crazy". I mean like incompentant to stand trial? I'm sure the defense will plead insanity
because they have to, but this guy to plan all this how he did with all the booby traps in his apartment to the total killing. No way I'm gonna believe he
was insane.

Media is starting to beat the drum to limit ammo purchase and mag capacity. Don't think it will go anywhere. At least not until Obama wins a second term.

My wife and I had a long talk about this over the weekend. I just couldn't help but beleive if more people had their CCP things like this would change. When someone walked in with a Gun and got shot three or four times before they could inflict pain on innocent people..Criminals mindsets would have to change some...

Crime commited....Justice served. No paying for him for 20 years with food and shelter and the doctor's fee's. People like him have proven they can't live in society, so why should he get to breathe another second when his innocent victims didn't???

Because of this...I'm getting my CCP and starting to carry. This world is just getting too crazy not to...

It was stated that he had full body armor on: Leg, crotch, throat guard, and ballistic helmet. I have little knowledge about ballistic helmets. Will they stop a 45ACP at 10 yrds? surely it would have to knock you into lala land and render a pretty major concusion, but maybe not.

Not trying to belittle this horrible event but can anybody tell me what a 3 month old baby was doing at a midnight showing of a batman movie?

Only reason I would be watching a batman movie with my 3 month old baby at 12 midnight would be because he was cryin', I had him AT HOME and nothing else was on the TV while I burped him.

The guy is no where near "crazy" as far as a defense goes. He knows right from wrong and chose to do wrong. They may try an insanity defense but in all reality an insanity defense hardly ever is successful in these types of deals. I truly do not believe that defense will get very far. The planning and execution of the plan then surrendering without incident could even be construed that he realized what he was doing was wrong and stopped the attack.

My take on the apartment being rigged to blow is that it was not intended to target first responders but draw their attention away from the theater to buy him more time. The music started at 12:00, he didn't start shooting until 12:38. If I had to guess he was hoping the fire/explosion would have had resources tied up to delay their response. He left the door unlocked and loud music blaring hoping someone would enter the apartment to investigate. Now it could have been aimed at LE but I truly believe he thought a neighbor would open the unlocked door starting the whole thing off. It would have had emergency personnel at his apartment dealing with the fire and explosion. That would of/could of bought him a lot of extra time at the theater. The Police Dept did an outstanding job having officers on scene within 90 seconds of the first call, that is pretty damn quick! If they were doing traffic control at his apartment and assisting the FD, who knows what their response time would have been!

As far as the body armor and what not the COLORADO COWARD was not planning on dying that night. If he had been, he wouldn't have quit shooting with plenty of ammo left or surrendered to the police. The body armor was to protect him until he could surrender I honestly believe. I think if someone had engaged him from that movie theater he would of stopped his attack and surrendered or tried to run. Him having the body armor on doesn't matter if his mindset is "I don't wanna die" when someone starts shooting at him!

From one of the officers who responded, the shooter had 9 AR mags, extra shotgun ammo and handgun ammo left on his plate carrier when he surrendered. If he was intent on going out fighting, he wouldn't have had so much ammo left I don't believe.

my take on the body armor was to enable him to reach a number. Granted he didnt want to die, but I fist though was the body armor was prevent an armed movie goer from stopping him before he reached the large number of victims he was looking for.

Low Light/no light drills..failure to stop drills... precision shot drills..shooting while moving drills..shooting from barricaded positions...the list goes on. The only hindrance in that "practice" is the fact that there is no way to replicate the adrenaline dump or FEAR that would certainly come with that situation and as mentioned the addition of chemical agents designed to take your will to fight away.

Jodi,

This is exactly why I went on ahead and got my instructor license for the Personal Protection outside the Home. Most all instructors that are doing the Enhanced Carry course only do the basics, get you in and get you out.. In my opinion they are doing the bare minimum for state qualiciations...

This is the shooting scenarios taught in the Personal Protection Outside the Home..
