Some of the stuff is apparently put on, but overall it is better entertainment than most things on TV and my wife is entertained by Phil's dry sense of humor!!
Phil telling his grandson what to look for in a woman was pretty priceless.

Happy happy happy happy happy when he is patting on that frog. Like the show... it's a lot better than most of the shows out there...ie: Lizard Lick Towing... Dog the Bounty Hunter to name a few.

Ya know, I watched the two shows and it seemed to be a natural progression of things. It's not Phil and Warren Coco relentlessly crumpling ducks in slow-mo from way back when. The Sportsman channel version that proceeded this A&E show was a little more hunting oriented and thus I enjoyed the back and forth discussions about the benefits of hunting porcupine blind or the swing ditch blind the next day. Even that show was stretching the duck hunting with a lot pass shooting woodies. ("Not that there's anything wrong with that") a-la Seinfeld.

Unfortunately the A&E version won't have enough unique family events(football), goofy Si episodes, or whatever to make it but one full season. So, let's enjoy it while we can. Yes it was great to see them at the dinner table saying grace at the end of the show. More people should do that at restaurants before they eat, don't see it much anymore.

Willie is taking the name up a notch with his hard work but I question how mainstream these guys can be. Good for them though, perhaps I can become a Pro-Staffer under Godwins wing.

I have to say I have really enjoyed this show. It is as scripted as any sitcom on television, but at least it is a redneck sitcom. Glad to see them doing well. I will say they have decent looking brides to be bearded North LA rednecks as well.

I was pretty skeptical about it at first.. But Phil and his brother make it pretty good and they say funny stuff...every episode I have seen Phil is talking about the beavers haha I bet the entire world is like what the hell is these duck hunter's deal with hating beavers

I guess I must be a "stick in the mud", but I just don't enjoy the show as much as most of you apparently do. I don't hate it, but its just not entertaining enough for me to purposefully make time to watch it. There is very little hunting type action and activities, and too much scripted silliness. I've watched a couple of episodes to give it a fair chance, but just cannot get into it.

However, I don't watch a whole lot of regular tv anyway, and I generally dislike most reality shows. So, I'm probably not the best judge of reality tv (to the extent that there is much reality to any of them). The one exception, and the only show on tv that I make time to watch is Swamp People, perhaps the most entertaining show on tv right now, IMO.

I have nothing against the Robertsons. They appear to be fine folks.

I met Phil when i was a kid through mutual friends back before he was "famous". Ran into him 3-4 years ago and he ain't changed much other than the brand stuff he uses, and after watching the show, I will say money and fame ain't changed him a bit. I enjoy it and I bet they are having a blast doing it.

That's the way it's supposed to be. They've already got a hunting show and all their dvds. This show is supposed to be more about family life and the business and such.

The way I see it is this.....It was produced for some type of "shock value" to a majority of the population....people like our majority watch it simply because it's a show that we as Southerners and outdoorsmen can relate to.

What he said. Way too scripted for me. I will watch it if I come across it channel surfing. Don't really like Swamp People either. Anyone watch Holmes on Homes. Pretty interesting show.
