They had the classifieds covered up with these holes last year, they'll be back this year around October. I used to laugh last year driving by these places and seeing AL plates parked there.
Empty sky in Sunflower Co. looks exactly the same in Tuscaloosa....
You guys watch out with these deals...you have no idea

I warned you guys on here to watch your six when leasing in Sunflower Co.
These morons advertise leases on this site.
You just better be careful...this is the mentality you're dealing with around Indianola. Too many rip-offs and bogus deals.
Who knows, with your "lease-combo/day hunt" you might even get a complimentary view of the federal courthouse thrown in for free...

my ducks are not in sunflower county. neither are the other 800 that were purchased at the same time and placed in three separate breaks (1,000 minimum to transport that far). that puts over 4,000 in the area. there are some in sunflower, Washington and boliver county.
some of the finest people i know lease duck holes to others in sunflower county.

My view on this subject may be too simplistic, but I think it makes sense. The obvious goal of this project is to bring more ducks to the area, but you want "wild" ducks. One of two things can happen here. If they are truly "wild" ducks, they will leave and go with the rest of the wild ducks, simply because your neighbor's place is obviously not where the wild ducks want to be. If wild ducks did want to be there, you would already have plenty of ducks during the season.

The other possibility is that these ducks hang around and they kill them and have a jam up season. If that is the case, these are not "wild" ducks because they have been trained to stay in that area.

Using that logic, it is impossible to add "wild" ducks to an area, other than attracting truly wild ducks. I know I am talking in circles, because I am confusing myself!

In my opinion, the only way to provide more truly wild ducks is by creating a habitat that attracts those wild ducks to his hole, not by purchasing hatchlings and training them like a dog.

There are two things going to happen with this place because I have seen it with Delta Ducks in Belzoni before:

1. They stop feeding the ducks as it gets closer to duck season and the ducks leave and everybody shoots them because no matter what you do if the food is gone and the pressure is on then they are gonna leave. They will have to stop feeding them or it will be illegal which leads to

2. If they are still feeding them during duck season and don't have a preserve license then whooooo watch out. Some people think rob is bad. They can't buy enough moon pies to get them out of the crap they are gonna be in. If they have people that shoot ducks on this preserve and like it then so be it.

i think you are absolutely right. Plus, maybe one of the mains reasons this place doesnt have ducks is from past mismanagement. So that probably needs to change before drinking South Carolina's kool aid and bringing a bunch of pet ducks to a region where a lot of wild ducks already come naturally

STAY HOME

Dan Prevost (delta wild life) has seen many of these duck holes. ducks are on these holes, just not like they were back in the 60's and 70's. there were a lot more ducks every where in the delta. maybe many of you are not old enough to remember. the duck population across the entire delta has dwindled. millet, beans, sorghum, corm, etc. have been left in the fields or planted in these holes. water has been pumped. duck holes have been leased out every year to responsible hunters from Mississippi, Georgia. Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and more.. many hunters retain the same holes with little or no complaints.
we just want to see if we can increase the duck population like South Carolina is doing. there are no federal or state funds, but private. 47% of the ducks in south Carolina migrate and return to the same general area. not the same exact spot but more like returning to the ms delta in general. obviously, these land owners will require a return on investment at some point or the project will cease.
