I don't hunt in the Delta often, but when I do, I honestly eat these. They are the chit. Literally, get extra napkins and be prepared to pull over. The turkey legs ain't half bad either.
used to get 6 livers and 6 gizzards (and a jojo) from double quick at sunflower ave/hwy82 for the ride home from inda'nola to isola...usually had 4 if not 5 gizzrads left - livers were gone by inverness and the 1 gizzard lasted until west isola! the rest were good catfish bait the next day.

That McDonald's in Belzoni is built on the grave of The Pig Stand.

If you never had a Sutt Special from The Pig Stand you never had breakfast.

FYI, Mr Kilpatrick that owns the Varsity is the brother of the late Mr Kilpatrick who used to own the Pig Stand.

If you are in Crowder around 11am, Montea's (sp?) rib plate at the Crowder Grocery is the best $10 ever spent. At night, 3-way in Charleston can be on time; just remember to bring your own whiskey.

i've tried to special order a sutt special at a few places that i thought may could replicate it, but nobody's gotten close to the original! man i miss that place... an oil/butter basted fried egg, mayo, bacon, tomato and mayo all squeezed between two heavily buttered, toasted, slices of lite bread....mmmmmmmmmmm!!!! i can almost hear my arteries "gluggin'" just thinking about it...

whenever i think of king dons (and for the youngsters, no i didn't leave out a "g"), the picture i always see in my mind is at the pig stand - sitting on the stools i could see them stacked in the box on the end of the counter nearest the south door, wrapped in thin aluminum foil....and i smell the coffee and cigs that were always mixed in with the smell of the smoker and griddle, too.

Any of you guys ever had the privilege of eating a thick cut bologne sandwich on white bread after a hunt? Places that actually make this type of sandwich seem to be growing extinct. Man they are good though.

Josie's is overpriced and overrated IMO. Plus, you gotta drive from Harrisburg to Waldenburg and then drive back after having a few drinks. If it's steak you're after, hit Mel's. Home cooking at Betty's or Witt's End is pretty good. Mezcan joint serves the adult beverages.

My crew is a "drink only" crew at Josies. Love the place but yes the food is high. You do have some pretty good talent running around in there though. No one in that area can top Mel's for a steak, including the steakhouses in Jonesboro.
