There's a reason most of the shooting preserves in Mexico and South America stock Berettas. They are near mainenance free and will handle heavy shooting (250 - 750 rounds per gun per day) for long periods of time. Nothing wrong with Benelli (several friends have them and love them). In my minds eye, unless you do a lot of goose hunting, the 3 1/2 shell is absolutely not neccesary. Save some money, get the Beretta.

Are those new Berretta Extrema's any good. I've read a little about them and haven't heard of any problems except some say the trigger pull was not very good on the earlier ones. Does anyone know if they have fixed this problem? I was about to jump on the bandwagon and buy an SBE, but I'm thinking about gettin' that Extrema instead.

I grew up with Brownings and had hunted ducks with one of my Citoris for years. A friend was in a tight spot and I lifted a SBE off him for $700. I've been hunting with the SBE for three years and have not shot the Browning. Great gun.

Do you shoot 3.5's enough to pay the extra price? I don't so I bought the M1 Super 90. It is MUCH cheaper, I paid $760 total for the gun, and it has the same exact action as the SBE only made for the 3" shell. It will shoot the lightest trap shells up to 3" ( I don't care what they say the SBE usually won't shoot 1oz. shells). I did have a very short break in period, about a box, before it would act right though. I have been very impressed, and I am a Beretta 390 man. Never thought I would shoulder a Benelli but I got sick of tearing up the wood on my Beretta 390 and I needed a Syn stock. Hate the syn Beretta 391's. Try the M1, hell I will let you try out mine if you want.

If you are a duck man - Benelli.

If you are a trap and bird man - Beretta. PERIOD
