Hevi Shot

Chokes

Do you use a choke for lead or a choke for steel with the hevishot?

I shoot #6 hevi shot through an IC choke. Bam=Dead duck :D

As I was shooting more open areas, I used a modified/full choke in my 686 O/U, and B-in-law used a modified in a 390. I patterned these and they were dense with good spread and no holes. With a IC choke, the pattern was thin in the middle...no hole just thinner. The modified was the most consistent...pure death. I made a pretty long shot on a high mallard in a swamp and it was a puff of feathers and lights out! I don't think I would have even attempted the shot with steel.
