HB1282 and HB1137 New deer season bills....
Re: HB1282 and HB1137 New deer season bills....
Yall should also try looking at it from the eyes of the gun only crowd. They pay the same for a hunting license as a bow hunter, but get fewer hunting days than bow hunters. Just sayin'

Lets see here thinkin about getting into bow hunting...even going with a quality used bow your looking at several hundred dollars. Thanks but no thanks.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter to me either way. Deer hunting has been whored out to the point where I could care less what the hell they do.

Damn all that from a simple question
for the record I do bowhunt, does that make me a bowhunter. No. Just breath people, surely you didn't think it would pass? Who's to say that it's not a higher pressence in the woods that make them go nocturnal, not a pow every now and then.

Gun hunters have 2 1/2 months to do their damage leave the month and a half of Bow only alone..... I havent picked up a gun in 6 years and dont plan on ever hunting with one again...
ADAME you should try it
Not only that, but the woods at my camp become a lot more crowded once gun season starts. Instead of 3-4 guys bowhunting I'm dealing with 15-20 gun hunting.
And that friends is the real issue...Bowhunters don't want others to get in their way.

It is real interesting how one user group seems to think they own that time as if they are entitled to that time when the truth is that that user group can hunt the entire season with that weapon.
I’m a bow hunter and I have even gone to the recurve this season. I love the heritage of bow hunting and I voiced my opinion on it at the MDWFP meeting. But…
The truth is that it would give people more opportunity to harvest deer. It should not be one users group that dictates how the season is managed. There are many users that would love to have picked up a cross bow and hunted that two week period. Yet the greed of the one user group has killed that chance for that group.
We truly have turned into a selfish group of users.

Amen it cracks me up when they say that the bow hunters are selfish, hell we have a 2 1/2 month gun season and if you can't get it done in that time frame well then those extra weeks aren't going to make any difference!

It is a PROVEN fact in our neighboring states that when you add days for gun/musket season (at expense of bowhuters or not)...Doe harvest DOES NOT go up.......Does not go up.......Does not go up............What happens is Gun/Musket hunters instead basically trophy hunt the added days.........The State has failed to prove that these new "dates" would gaurentee doe kill and simple fact is, it can't. We hunt in a world of "trophy" mentality. There are several other avenues to increase doe harvest that i believe the "committee has finally realized to explore that would also INCREASE revenue for the state. Many hunters across the state including myself have demanded they explore these instead pushing "one mans" ideas down the states sportsman windpipe.........ya'll can argue bow this and gun that but we should all be scared that potentially our season, whatever they are, can be changed based on half facts and the political machine.....................Thank You Wildlife Senate members.....I just hope my senator Tollison was on my side.

What part of I do bow hunt didn't you get. Only difference is that I don't look at bow season as an all or none frame work. You can Bow hunt all season so what the Gun hunters and cross bow hunters can't. You would be singing a different tune if it was the gun hunters saying you can hunt guns all season if it was the other way around.
It's just plain selfish and all the excuses in the world won't fly when you can still bow hunt all season. I could have killed deer even in Dec. bow hunting. I had two does walking under my stand this year with guns going off in the distance on public land.
It would not kill anyones chances to share a two week period. Maybe you would have taken to it better if they said you could only crossbow hunt those two weeks instead. That will be the next thing since the bow hunters seem to dis approve of crossbows during bow season.
It is simply a user group crying to keep things in their favor. Everyone knows this and even the user group itself knows this.

THE FLIPPIN GUN HUNTERS, CROSSBOW HUNTERS, SLINGSHOT HUNTERS, SPEAR HUNTERS, VAJ HUNTERS, DOOBY HUNTERS, DUCK HUNTERS, SQUIRREL HUNTERS, COON HUNTERS, TURKEY HUNTERS, CAN ALL HUNT DURING BOW SEASON< JUST GET A BOW .....
I guess we should take away the primitive weapon season too since it is exclusive to those guys... I dont have enought money to go out and buy a 300 dollar gun and 100 dollar scope so it is wrong that the people that can afford to but a 45/70 can hunt but I cant....... GIVE ME A FLIPPIN BREAK
A kid that is taught how to bow hunt wil become a hell of alot better sportsman/conservationist than one that is handed a high power rifle OCT 1 and told blast away son all the way to FEB....
I agree with you on ALOT of things MSDUCKMEN but this is not one of em

The herd can't stand the stress of a 4 month gun season in most parts of this state but I guess anything that makes it easier on the majority would be better, Democrats you gotta love the way they think!

And here lies your problem. Kids are being taught how to sit in front of a tv and play video games rather than how to bowhunt or become a true "hunter" or "woodsman". Those days are all but gone, very few parents are instilling these principles in the next generation of kids. Thanks to our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc... We have a HELLUVA lot better quality of life than they did, as a result parents have become selfish. Its about "my time" now a days. I'm only 27, but when I was growing up I was in the woods or on the farm nearly every day with my dad or grandfather either working or hunting, regardless I was outdoors. That is just not the case now a days, kids are being stuck in front of a TV so the adults can do as they please. Its just plain selfishness, and it is ruining our society! I'm a parent, and I will be dammed if my kids are raised in front of a tv or video game 24/7, and I know there are a lot of others on this board that feel the same way.
I say all that to say, this issue runs much deeper than any house bill, its a societal problem.
I'm done... carry on!
