folks, from the bottom of our hearts, megan and i wanna say thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.

i'm just stopping by the house to make sure it hasn't burned down and gauge hasn't hitched a ride to somewhere, to live w/ someone who'll pay his old butt some attention.....he's still here.

Lila Dale Harrison came into the world at 1444 on 10/12/09, after a more eventful day than I ever care to have again which is thankfully now just a story I get to tell. Megan and Lila are happy and healthy and me, well, I'm a little bit...............err...............well, I'm wrapped around a tiny lil finger.

My daddy told me when we found out we were having a baby, "Son, there ain't but one thing you get to take to heaven w/ you and that's your children." There's power in that, I'm here to tell you. Last night, we started a new tradition at the Harrison household - we taught Lila to pray.

I've been more impressed w/ the service and care we've received at Baptist than any hospital I've ever seen...and, I've seen a few. To those kind aids, nurses, and doctors that worked their absolute butts off yesterday for Lila, I'll never forget it.

Interestingly enough, Lila's birthday is the day after my beloved and revered grand daddy's - ya'll know him from a few stories as GRAN GRAN......how cool is that?

It's a new chapter in an old book and one I am looking forward to. I never knew until yesterday how completely you could love someone so quickly until I laid eyes on my daughter.

Let people help. If people want to cook a meal, take it. If people want to come and clean your house, take it. DON'T TRY TO DO EVERYTHING YALL SELVES!!!! Been there done that for 8 weeks now and I'm getting burnt out. We had offers out the wazzo and we told everyone we had it taken care off. Now I'm wishing we would have taken the offers.

Buddy, I haven't been around this place, but I will take this opportunity to expand upon my text yesterday. You are now one of the two most important people in the world, you're a father. For years nothing you do will be nearly as important as what you do for that child, friends, siblings, even spouses love and depend on you, but no one depends on you as completely as your child. There are going to be a lot of sleepless nights, and temper tantrums, and days when you ask yourself "do I just suck at being a parent." But know, at all times, that you are one of the most important beings in her world even when she treats you like dirt. Even though children grow up, and their needs change and the roles of their parents change, a child never stops needing a parent. And by the way, I'm certain you and Megan are both going to be great parents...just try to remember that when she is five and pitches a total fit because she didn't get her way!

In closing, did you opt for the Filson diaper bag?
